Dragons’ Den star Sara Davies and Strictly Come Dancing’s Amy Dowden joined forces to travel through the North East on a quest to find the best antiques, during the latest episode of Celebrity Antiques Road Trip.

Along for the ride, and to share their knowledge were antique experts Natasha Raskin Sharp and Steven Moore.

The friends drove all the way to Harrogate for their auction finale, turfing out the contents of antiques shops in Whitley Bay, Langley Moor and Hartlepool as they went.

Unlike Sara, Amy had never been in a business situation before and admitted that she was going to struggle to haggle.

Kicking off the show, Amy said: “I have been looking forward to our girlie time with you!

“You are a very successful business woman so I have a feeling you will be stronger at haggling than I am.”

Sara agreed and replied: “Oh I will be haggling don’t you worry! The way I see it is, buying and selling, just dealing in antiques is like a business, you can treat it like a dance competition.”

After two days of buying items they thought were going to be best sellers, it was time for them to put them up for auction.

Amy’s first item of a bedroom chair which she bought for £30 was a success as it sold for £45 and she excitedly said: “I am hoping we have a lucky streak coming.”

Her second item, a silver steel hat pin which she bought for £100, only sold £40 and left Natasha to apologise.

“We are cringing. I am sorry I thought it would be, I was really invested in the beetle but alas!”

Steel show buckles which she bought for £30 were up next and unfortunately only sold for £19 and left Natasha to comment: “Aye aye aye, that went straight to my heart, I am sorry Amy.”

Looking sad and upset she wasn’t making any money, Amy quipped: “I thought we were doing well but we have just crashed back down!,” to which Natasha agreed: “We are crashing.”

Her regency long arm which she bought for £95 sold at £25, but it was the teapot that she had her heart set on which saved the day.

She bought it for £20, and it eventually sold for £30, leaving Amy to go on and win the days competition.

Sara spent the whole £400 she was given at the start and had a loss of £189, however, Amy only spent £275 and still came away with £255.38.

Driving bak home after their long day, Amy noted: “I have had a lush time i want to do it all again.”

Sara agreed: “Do you know we could totally go and hit up a couple of antique shops now!”

Celebrity Antiques Roadtrip airs Tuesday from 7pm on BBC One.
