I have to be honest with you, when I stumbled upon any of the “Unusual Gems” you find across Skyrim, I had no idea I was sitting on a passive gold mine. These “Unusual Gems” are actually the Stones of Barenziah, and while they cost 200 Septim individually, together they will provide a far better reward. They are scattered across the Skyrim hold regions, so make sure to follow both the table and the map below to find them.

| 3 | Windhelm (House of Clan Shatter-Shield) | Eastmarch | Head upstairs and open the first bedroom on the left. Find it on a bookshelf. |

Once you have collected them all, head to Riften and talk to Vez inside the Ragged Flagoon. If you haven’t already, you must first have to become a full member of the Thieves Guild to be able to talk with her. You will receive the Prowler’s Profit, which is an effect that will increase the chance of finding multiple gems in chests, bodies, urns, and everywhere you can find gems.
