Sea of Thieves has prospered off the cooperative adventure shenanigans players can get into while traveling across the open ocean. That being said, players have been eager to try and play Sea of Thieves across other consoles with other friends who might not currently have an Xbox or PC. Head of Microsoft, Phil Spencer, has said in the past year that gaming is going to experience fewer console exclusives. This is something he sees as an absolute positive. What’s more, it seems that thanks to a few murmurs from behind the curtain via Jeff Grubb of Giant Bomb, Sea of Thieves could arrive on PlayStation and Nintendo Switch sometime in the near future.

This is, of course, ambiguous. However, another Xbox exclusive released in 2023 might have given Xbox’s future plans away. Thanks to a listing by the Australian Classification board, it seems Hi-Fi Rush has gotten a rating for PlayStation consoles. This, combined with the newly announced Developer Direct coming from Xbox in the middle of January 2024, bodes very well for you swashbuckling pirates looking for more friends on the high seas.
