All Creatures Great and Small actor Tony Pitts took to Instagram yesterday to post a video with co-stars Rachel Shenton and Imogen Clawson in the Yorkshire Dales.

The actor shared a video of himself arm in arm with the actresses on the set of the Channel 5 veterinary drama skipping down a road.

He captioned the video: “Two young girls and their father skip into an uncertain future…#families #skipping #Hitler #yorkshire.

“Thanks to up-and-coming actress @rachelshenton and prom Queen @imogenclawson for their sun-baked commitment to joy.” (sic)

Imogen and Rachel play sisters Jenny and Helen Alderson, respectively, on All Creatures Great and Small.

Tony’s cryptic comment about the future appears to be linked to the Second World War which looms over Skeldale House’s residents.

At the end of season three, fans will recall Tristan Farnon (Callum Woodhouse) decided to enlist in the army to fight for his country.

Military service is also beckoning for Helen’s husband James Herriot (Nicholas Ralf) which arose in the latest Christmas special.

How will Helen and the women cope without James and Tristan around?

Speaking on Masterpiece Studios podcast, Helen actress Rachel shared what she hopes is on the cards for James and Helen.

“I hope there’s more fun to be had but I’m also aware that we are in the time that we are, World War II is very real,” the 35-year-old said.

“But I still hope that their relationship can keep deepening and they can keep becoming more.”

Rachel continued: “What I saw this season, which I think was lovely and I’d like to see more of, is that we saw them transition from the kind of gooey newlyweds that are stealing kisses when Richard Alderson’s not looking, to a team that sticks together and are there for each other.”

Will the characters remain united in the upcoming series or will the devastation of war pull them apart?

A release date for the fourth series is yet to be announced, but it is understood it will land on Channel 5 this autumn.

All Creatures Great and Small episodes are available to watch on My5.
