One of the most highly anticipated films of 2024 is Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga.
Directed by George Miller, Furiosa serves as a spin-off and prequel to 2015’s Mad Max: Fury Road. It is the fifth instalment in the franchise overall, which began with the original Mad Max way back in 1979.

This latest entry stars Anya Taylor-Joy as a young Furiosa, who was played by Charlize Theron in Fury Road. Other cast members include Chris Hemsworth, Alyla Browne, Tom Burke, Lachy Hulme, Nathan Jones, and Josh Helman.
Along with directing Furiosa, Miller has co-written the story with his former Fury Road collaborator Nico Lathouris.

The film is set to be released in cinemas on May 24 in the UK and US.
Furiosa will have its worldwide premiere at the Cannes Film Festival on May 15, before its UK premiere in London on Friday May 17.

Early reactions to the film from critics have described it as a “ferocious” and “relentlessly paced” prequel to Fury Road, with “just plain stunning cinematography”.
In a five-star review of Mad Max: Fury Road, NME wrote: “The unspoken bond that gradually develops between Charlize Theron’s stoic Furiosa and Tom Hardy’s buff, grunting Max is unexpectedly touching, and provides an emotionally satisfying conclusion to what is surely the most exhilarating film of 2015 so far.”
