The official account Twitter account of Diablo recently changed its profile picture and shared a new teaser, where it warns about the arrival of Lilith, all contributing to a possible announcement from Blizzard about the game in the coming days, which could eventually reveal Diablo 4’s release date.
With The Game Awards 2022 showcase only a few days away, more developers and publishers confirm their presence in the ceremony, where they will share new trailers from their upcoming projects. Diablo 4 is one of the titles that many insiders believe would appear in The Game Awards 2022, and now it seems the speculation wasn’t in vain.
A few months earlier, Blizzard started to send out invitation emails for select players to participate in a limited testing session of Diablo 4, which was heavily under NDA, though some leaked footage still appeared on the internet.
After that, some insiders claimed that Diablo 4 will be premiered at The Game Awards 2022 with a new trailer that reveals the official release date and details the pre-order options of the game. It was also mentioned by insiders that getting early access to an upcoming open beta of the game in 2023 will be a part of the pre-order bonus for Diablo 4, similar to what we experienced with Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 before its launch.
The rumors say Diablo 4 will target a launch in April 2023, but you should take it with a grain of salt until we get the official announcement from Blizzard itself. The last official appearance of Diablo 4 in a showcase was back in June 2022, when the developers revealed the Necromancer class and detailed endgame content.
Regarding the fact that the acquisition of Activision-Blizzard by Microsoft is still facing difficulties around the world, Diablo 4 might not come to Xbox and PC Game Pass on day one, unless it gets a release date for the latter half of 2023. Of course, that still requires 17 approvals from regulators around the world.
Diablo 4 will be available on both current-gen and last-gen consoles as well as PC.
