With the release of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, over a hundred new Pokemon have made their way into the continuously growing franchise. From the starter Pokemon to the newest legendary Pokemon, there are plenty of different creatures for players to collect and meet in the Paldea region.
With so many Pokemon, there’s going to be a fair amount of judgment on each new critter’s design, and as such, there are definitely some creative takes that just seem to be better than others. A lot of the Pokemon in Scarlet and Violet are based off of real-life animals, while others are simply creative choices for a Pokemon.
10/10 Armarouge
This new Pokemon was showcased in a trailer before Scarlet and Violet released in November, along with its counterpart, Ceruledge. Armarouge is a Fire and Psychic-type Pokemon with a great design. Armarouge evolves from the Fire-type Charcadet in the Scarlet version of the Pokemon game.
Armarouge isn’t just one of the best Pokemon in the game, but it’s definitely one of the Pokemon to have the coolest designs. As this Pokemon evolves by giving Charcadet a certain armor, Armarouge sports that heroic armor in its evolution.
9/10 Ceruledge
Ceruledge is a Ghost and Fire-type Pokemon that players can obtain in the Violet version of the Pokemon game. In order to do so, players must give Charcadet an armor that they obtained in Pokemon Violet. Ceruledge is also one of the best Pokemon in the game in terms of base stats — plus, it has a wonderful design.
This Pokemon goes with more of a sinister look than its counterpart, with armor that looks spooky and ghostly purple fire burning along its body. This Pokemon perfectly sets itself apart from Armarouge in the sense that it gives off a malicious vibe.
8/10 Lokix
Lokix is new Paldean Bug and Dark-type Pokemon. This Pokemon evolves from Nymble and has one of the best designs in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. Lokix is also one of the best Bug-type Pokemon for players to use in the new Pokemon game, as its stats aren’t too horrible.
Its Attack and Speed stats are somewhat viable when needed. Lokix’s design itself looks pretty incredible, as one could tell that Lokix would be a Dark and Bug-type Pokemon upon seeing it for the first time. For Bug-type lovers, this critter is a must-have.
7/10 Garganacl
This Minecraft-esque Rock-type Pokemon has made waves in the Pokemon community in terms of its design and usefulness in taking on Pokemon Scarlet and Violet’s three different campaigns. Garganacl is the final evolution after Nacli and Naclstack.
This Pokemon has a remarkable look as it features salt deposits standing tall in block forms all over its sturdy body. It also goes along with the real-life science of salt deposits as the clay, rock, and salt all build up on this Pokemon after each evolution. Garganacl also has its own unique ability, Purifying Salt.
6/10 Annihilape
The generation 1 Pokemon Primeape is finally getting some love after so many years in Game Freak’s brand-new Pokemon game. Players can evolve their Primeape in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet into the Ghost and Fighting-type Annihilape.
Annihilape just looks so amazing, and its appearance just seems as if it was ripped straight out of an anime. Annihilape clearly has pure rage seething from its body, and its eyes are glowing red as if the Pokemon was only seeing the anger-associated color. This Pokemon is scary, and fans love it.
5/10 Grafaiai
Grafaiai is yet another incredible creature that fans were introduced to in a trailer before Scarlet and Violet’s official release. This Pokemon is a Normal and Poison-type Pokemon, and is known to paint trees and rocks. Players can even get a glimpse of their paintings in-game.
Grafaiai is one of the cutest Pokemon in the game, with giant eyes that are more unique than most other Pokemon, and It’s just so small. Grafaiai’s “paint” is actually its poisonous saliva, which even changes color based on the Pokemon’s diet!
4/10 Scovillain
The newest Grass and Fire-type Pokemon is one of the coolest looking creatures in the game. Scovillain evolves from Capsakid by using a Fire Stone on the Pokemon. Scovillain retains is original green color, but two heads sprout from its green body.
Each head easily reflects the appearance of a pepper, with one head being green and the other red. With the red head, a player can make the assumption that that head is reminiscent of a spicy pepper, hence the Pokemon’s Fire-typing. This Pokemon is also one of the best Grass-types in the game.
3/10 Kingambit
Kingambit is the fan-favorite Bisharp’s newest evolution. Unexpectedly, the Dark and Steel-type Bisharp received a new addition to its evolutionary line, but in order to evolve a Bisharp, the player must go through a tricky and unusual process.
Kingambit is a Dark and Steel-type Pokemon, retaining its typing from its previous form. This Pokemon looks very similar to a samurai and has incredibly long hair that Kingambit sits upon as if it was a throne. Against any opponent, this Pokemon’s design is very intimidating.
2/10 Koraidon
Koraidon is one of the two legendary Pokemon that decorate Pokemon Scarlet and Violet’s cover art. Koraidon is the legendary Pokemon that players can obtain in Pokemon Scarlet, first as a way to traverse the large map, and then finally as a partner to use in battle near the end of the game.
Koraidon is a Fighting and Dragon-type Pokemon, mimicking its primal appearance. This Pokemon is so cool in its design as it looks like a primal dinosaur, and though fans weren’t too sure of the “wheels” in its design, they prove necessary for the Pokemon’s biology and as a way to traverse water.
1/10 Miraidon
Miraidon is the legendary Pokemon that players in Pokemon Violet can obtain. As fans have seen recently, Miraidon has been the most popular legendary so far as Pokemon Violet has sold more copies than Pokemon Scarlet.
Miraidon is an Electric and Dragon-type Pokemon, shown clearly from its futuristic design. This robotic Pokemon has such a unique and cool design, and with each traversal option in Paldea, the Pokemon transforms almost like a Transformer to get around. The wheels on its body are legitimately wheels as well.
