Zelda Tears of the Kingdom Reaches 10 Million Copies Milestone in Just Three Days

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom has broken a new milestone for Nintendo. According to their recent sales, the game sold 10 million copies in just three days of launch. This makes the title the fatest selling Zelda game in the history of the franchise. The open-world Switch exclusive was released on May 12th.

If you compare the sales to the first title Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Zelda Tears of the Kingdom has sold 30 million in its lifetime. That means TOTK has gained a third of that. Mario Kart 8 has now sold 53 million copies. Whether Tears of the Kingdom will gain quite that many units sold is not quite known, but it’s definitely off to a good start.

Use Fuse to combine weapons with other weapons or objects to create combos and upgrades in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.

It seems it’s great news for Nintendo’s first-party title as just last week, Zelda Tears of the Kingdom was reported to be topping the UK boxed sales chart. The game unleashed a call to nostalgia with its launch ad appealing to old and new fans of the franchise.

Tears of this Kingdom

While the first-party game is doing the numbers, it’s not all positive news for Switch fans. Another open-world RPG expected to release on the platform this July, Hogwarts Legacy recently got delayed. The hardware for the Switch seems to be showing its age as third-party developers face some struggles porting to the now over six-year hybrid console. Many hoped that a new Switch (I included) would be launching alongside the new Zelda title but it seems we may be waiting longer for that news to come. Only rumours so far of an updated model have been swirling.

In case you missed it, Zelda Tears of the Kingdom brings all new abilities for Link to explore the kingdom of Hyrule. With the Ultrahand to DIY to your imagination’s limits with a number of useful and absurd creations to build. You can also use Fuse to create different weapon combinations, my favourite so far is the Farming Hoe and Soup Ladle, the Sphoe is born.
