Remember LAN parties? They needn’t be a thing of the past thanks to V Rising‘s latest update.
The hottest vampire game on the block, V Rising, which just celebrated surpassing one million users, has had a new patch. And one that we’re rather excited by. You don’t need an internet connection to play, thanks to the new LAN Mode.
That’s right; if you’ve got a local area network set up with friends, you don’t need to be connected to the internet to enjoy V Rising. There are a couple of steps to go through in order to play in LAN Mode:

- In Steam’s main menu, choose ‘Go Offline’. You can now disconnect your PC from the internet.
- Start V Rising and check the correct box in the UI: if you’re hosting, choose ‘LAN Mode’. If you’re connecting to a server, check ‘LAN Server’ in the Direct Connect to Server window.
Of course, since the game is in Early Access, you can see the addition of LAN Mode as sort-of a beta. Developer Stunlock Studios promises to keep improving and developing the functionality over the course of V Rising‘s Early Access period.
Other updates included in the latest update are as follows:
- You can now send server-wide messages
- The ‘Authentication Error’ has has several fixes
- Salvaging cloaks no longer returns the total crafting cost, so players can no longer profit by crafting
- Players may no longer place soul shards in containers
- Players can no longer send the same servant on multiple hunts
- Castle floors will no longer disconnect from the Castle Heart when two players are dismantling
- Players will no longer get multiple equipment buffs with two weapons equipped
- Steam Cloud can now store server history
- New admin commands have been added
