In this guide, you’ll learn everything you need to know about how to get the best out of Yelan, from builds and weapons to her best team compositions.

Best Builds & Artifact Sets

Yelan’s best role is as a Sub-DPS, using her Elemental Burst, Depth-Clarion Dice, to enable the rest of the team’s attacks to deal Hydro damage and enabling lots of Hydro reactions. Yelan’s priorities when building her stats are:

DUALSHOCKERS VIDEO OF THE DAY
  • HP % (this is her ascension stat and scales many of her abilities)
  • Energy Recharge (this allows Yelan to perform her Elemental Burst as often as possible)
  • Crit Rate %
  • Crit Damage %

Yelan’s most important Talent to level is her Elemental Burst. Her Elemental Skill is very useful out of combat but is not a big part of her kit in battle and does not need to be leveled. If you use Yelan on-field for DPS more often, her Normal Attacks are also very good and can be leveled.

Emblem Of Severed Fate

This set is perfect for Yelan as it helps her Energy Recharge requirements, and it gives her more damage for leaning into this stat. The 2-Piece Bonus provides 20% Energy recharge. The 4-Piece Bonus increases the damage of her Elemental Burst by 25% of her Energy recharge.

When farming for his set, you should look for the following main stats on these specific pieces:

  • Sands: HP % or Energy Recharge
  • Goblet: Hydro Dmg, HP %
  • Circlet: Crit %, Crit Damage %

Mixed Sets

As there is no other perfect 4-piece set for Yelan, you can pursue mixed sets of two-piece bonuses instead. Any combination of:the following will all boost Yelan’s key stats.

  • Emblem of Severed Fate – +20% Energy recharge
  • Heart of Depth – +15% Hydro Damage
  • Tenacity of the Millelith – +20% HP
  • Noblesse Oblige – +20% Elemental Burst Damage

Just bear in mind that none of these mixed sets compare to a 4-piece set of Emblem of Severed Fate, so you should only go down this route if you do not have enough (or good enough) EoSF pieces.

Best Weapons

As a Sub-DPS, Yelan can look at more than just damage and crit stats on her weapons. As with her Artifacts, anything that boosts HP or Energy Recharge is also valuable to her.

5-Star Weapon

Aqua Simulacra

This is Yelan’s signature weapon, and unsurprisingly it directly boosts key aspects of her builds. It provides upgrades to her Ascension HP stat, a huge Crit Damage % boost, and its other ability increases Yelan’s damage by 20% even when off-field. This is an incredible synergy with her normal Sub-DPS off-field Hydro damage role.

Elegy for the End

This 5-Star bow gives Yelan a huge Elemental mastery boost. If you are using Yelan in a Vaporize team, or other teams based on Elemental Reactions, this can be her best weapon.

4-Star Weapon

Favonius Warbow

This 4-Star Bow is given free to all players when they first defeat Divalin during the story. It is one of Yelan’s very best weapons because of its immense Energy Recharge and additional Energy generation on Critical hits, and may be her best weapon overall if you need more ER.

Yelan Best Teams

Yelan’s ability to provide off-field Hydro application to normal attacks means she has very strong synergy with any DPS that has good elemental normal attacks or ways of reacting with Hydro. Any team in which Xingqiu has been a star (such as the famous National Team or Raiden National) can be used with Yelan instead. But Yelan And Xingqiu are also very strong together for maximum Hydro application. You can try these two teams to see Yelan shine.

5-Star team – Vaporize

Character Character Role and Benefits
Hu Tao Main DPS
Yelan Sub-DPS: Applies off-field Hydro damage. Enables Hu Tao to vaporize her attacks
Xingqiu Sub-DPS: Applies off-field Hydro damage, helps funnel Energy to Yelan, shields and heals
Zhongli Support: Provides shield, RES shred

This team takes advantage of Yelan and Xingiu’s ability to apply off-field Hydro to attacks, letting Hu Tao vaporize her normal attacks for huge damage. To set up Hu Tao’s damage you want to use Yelan and Xingqiu’s Elemental Bursts first. This same team can also work with another 5-Star Pyro Main DPS like Yomiya or Diluc. If you don’t have Zhongli, the 4th slot can be replaced with an Anemo character like Kazuha or Sucrose to help with swirling elements, or another source of Pyro application like Xiangling — or Bennett for Pyro, buffing and healing.

4-Star Team – Electro-Charged

The other Hydro reaction that can benefit from Yelan’s skills is Electro-charged.

Character Character Role and Benefits
Sucrose Main DPS swirls Electro-Charged
Yelan Sub-DPS: Applies off-field Hydro damage. Can also act as Main DPS.
Xingqiu Sub-DPS: Applies off-field Hydro damage, helps funnel Energy to Yelan, shields and heals
Fischl Sub-DPS: Applies off-field Electro damage.

This team uses Yelan and Xingqiu’s off-field Hydro application from their Elemental Bursts and Fischl’s off-field Electro application from her Elemental Skill to create the Electro-Charged reaction. In this team comp, either Yelan or Sucrose can be the main on-field DPS, depending on who you have best geared.
