Yakiniku Simulator is coming to Nintendo Switch

Marketed as a calorie-free way to enjoy all-you-can-eat meat, Yakiniku Simulator has been announced for Nintendo Switch.

Released last month on Steam for the princely sum of $2, it seems the game has sold well enough to be ported to Switch and mobile. Soon you will not only be able to imagine you are eating barbequed meat in a classy Japanese restaurant at home, but also on the go.

Not only is the developer, Secret Character, working on releasing the game on new platforms, but it has also announced upcoming updates for the PC version. According to Famitsu, the developer is hoping to add online multiplayer to beef up its barbeque gameplay.

The game all takes place in front of a grill, where you can place different kinds of meat, flipping it halfway through in order to cook it to perfection. Yakiniku is a popular style of eating in Japan, with special restaurants offering all-you-can-eat meat for around $30-$50, depending on how many varieties of meat are on offer.

The original game included only pork, beef, and tongue, with salad, rice, and beer as optional extras. However, despite the seemingly niche nature of the game, the developer has continued to add more items to the menu, and develop additional modes of play including high scores for perfect grilling, and time attack for fast-paced feasts.

There is no concrete release date for the portable versions of the game. However, it has been announced that the price will increase to $5 to pay for all the added content since release. Still a fraction of the price of a regular buffet.

While Yakiniku Simulator was not shown off in the recent Nintendo Direct, you can catch up on all the biggest announcements from the Partner Showcase, including Nier:Automata and Persona ports.
