Xbox Games Showcase 2024: When it starts, how to watch, what to expect

Summer Game Fest 2024 is more than just the Friday night kickoff stream with host Geoff Keighley. It’s a whole weekend of announcements, and one of the most anticipated is the Xbox Games Showcase on Sunday, June 9.

What time is the Xbox Games Showcase?

Xbox’s livestream showcase will be broadcast at 10 a.m. PT/1 p.m. ET/7 p.m. CEST on Sunday, June 9. You can watch it here at the top of this post, or at the following places:

As for the rest of the video game news broadcast lineup, check out Polygon’s full schedule of “not-E3” and Summer Game Fest 2024 livestreams.

What time is the Call of Duty Direct?

Immediately following the Xbox Games Showcase, on the same livestream channels, there will be a Call of Duty Direct that focuses on Call of Duty: Black Ops 6. Unfortunately, Microsoft has not stated the length of the Xbox Games Showcase. Based on 2023’s version of the event, it will probably last for an hour. So, if you only want to watch the Call of Duty Direct, you should be safe tuning in at 11 a.m. PT/2 p.m. ET/8 p.m. CEST on Sunday June 9.

What games will be at the Xbox Games Showcase?

According to Microsoft, we’ll see “new games from Xbox Game Studios,” “updates from previously announced titles,” and “new games available to play on release day with Game Pass.” As for which games might appear, we have a few guesses. We might see more of Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, some DLC for Starfield, or more details on Diablo 4’s Vessel of Hatred expansion. Fable and Avowed are waiting in the wings. And there are several games and franchises we haven’t seen in a while that could conceivably make an appearance: the Perfect Dark reboot, State of Decay 3, or maybe even a new Gears of War game reveal.

There’s a lot riding on the Xbox Games Showcase this year. In 2024, the brand is facing a bit of an identity crisis. To quote my colleague Oli Welsh in his analysis of what to expect from the Xbox Showcase: “What is Xbox now? Do the consoles matter at all? Is Microsoft now just a massive third-party publisher — a bigger Electronic Arts? Is the Game Pass strategy working? How does owning Call of Duty help any of this? How has Halo, Xbox’s flagship franchise, been allowed to fall into disrepair?”

Those questions may or may not be answered at this showcase — but they’ll certainly be top of mind for fans and critics on Sunday during the broadcast.
