Xbox Black Friday Sales Discounts Hundreds Of Games

Microsoft is kicking off the festive discount season with its Black Friday sale on the Xbox games store where hundreds of games are currently discounted on the Xbox games store.

With over 700 discounts in the new Black Friday Xbox sale, there’s sure to be something for everybody. The sale includes price reductions on OG Xbox games, Xbox 360 games, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S releases. So whether you’re in the market for a bit of nostalgia or you’re a savvy shopper who has waited a few extra weeks before diving into the latest FIFA, there’s plenty to get stuck into.

It may be worth having a look and adding a few bits to your basket, even if you don’t yet have an Xbox console. If you’re expecting Santa (or whoever) to be leaving an Xbox under the tree next month, it wouldn’t hurt to have a few decent games in your library. Mind you, there’s bound to be even more sales after Christmas.

If you’re overwhelmed by the sheer amount of games on sale, and you don’t know what to do, here are a few recommendations to help get you started.

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, the most recent entry, has been heavily discounted, but have you heard of Assassin’s Creed Rogue? Releasing on PS3 and Xbox 360 on the same day as Assassin’s Creed Unity did on PS4 and Xbox One, Rogue was sadly overlooked. Rather than having players walk the Assassin’s path, Rogue turned the tables and showed the world from the point of view of the Templars. Gameplay-wise, it didn’t do anything revolutionary, but from a narrative standpoint, it was refreshing to see how the “other side” justified their part in the centuries-old conflict. The remastered version is less than a tenner and a bargain to boot.

If you’re a fan of a good story, another must-have is Red Dead Redemption 2: Story Mode, assuming you’ve somehow gone all these years without stepping foot in Rockstar‘s epic western, that is. The online mode has been all but abandoned by Rockstar, but you don’t need to go online to have a good time. Besides, the grinding is unreal. The good stuff can be found in the game’s rich story that takes place before the original Red Dead Redemption and it ties in quite nicely with John Marston’s story, too. Throw this up on a nice big 4K display and never leave the house again.

And the last recommendation you’ll get here is for a golden oldie: Star Wars The Clone Wars. In fact, it was only during the writing of this piece that this scribbler noticed the OG Xbox game was on the Xbox store as a digital download. If you’ve never played it, it’s one of the better Star Wars games from the early 2000s. As the title suggests, it takes place during The Clone Wars, though instead of running around slashing droids with a lightsaber or force-choking the sand people, you’re confined to vehicular combat. You’ll be blasting from the ground and from the skies in an original story told between Episode II and Episode III, and for hardcore Star Wars fans, it’s a must-play. It’s also got local co-op, including a wave-based mode where you can swing lightsabers around. It’s a tenner and worth every penny.
