The Tavern Defense encounter occurs during Act 1 of Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous. In it, you’ll have to fight waves of demons and cultist mobs to protect your soldiers at the inn. Here’s our Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous Tavern Defense guide to help you with the preparations and battle as part of A Stay of Execution.

Before the ball starts rolling in A Stay of Execution or the Tavern Defense encounter in Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous, you’ll first need to prepare. This particular incident is triggered based on the number of days you’ve spent in-game, which essentially coincides with your travels on the world map and resting. As such, you’ll want to make sure that you’ve got what you need:
Eventually, you’ll be told that Defender’s Rest is under attack. You can then talk to Irabeth to have the battle commence.
There are two kinds of main targets in the Tavern Defense bout in Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous: Arsonists and Minotaurs. They ought to be prioritized, as they progress the waves. The other cultists and demons, meanwhile, act as fodder, though you still need to kill them to complete the overall encounter.
In any case, cast Grease on the ground as the enemy mobs approach the gate. This spell is great for crowd-control, as it causes opponents to slip and flounder, making for some easy hits. Hopefully, you’ll succeed in the Reflex saving throws, or just avoid wading through it with melee characters.
Once the first wave has been taken out, check the rooftops for more hostiles. Some of the NPC troops here will be able to create a bottleneck, allowing your teammates to pepper them from a distance. While this is going on, the Minotaur and its pals will break down the opposite gate. Grease/Create Pit will help you here, so make sure you cast the spell/s. You can send in Seelah or your main character (if you picked a tanky class), but make sure they’re fully buffed and you can heal when necessary.
On that note, failing in this encounter won’t end the game. However, the destruction of your defenses and defeat of allies will make the Gray Garrison assault a bit tougher.
Once you’re done with the Tavern Defense in Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous, have a chat with Irabeth to complete A Stay of Execution. Talk to various NPCs, and you’ll get some extra loot. Lastly, here are some notable tidbits:
