Wonka Comes To Max Soon, Here’s When

Dune: Part Two isn’t the only big Timothee Chalamet project with a notable date next month. Warner Bros. Discovery has revealed that Wonka will join the Max streaming service on March 8.

The official Max account on X (formerly known as Twitter) posted Wonka will only be available to stream on its service. The movie is currently available to buy and rent on other digital platforms, such as on Apple TV and Amazon Prime Video. Wonka also received a special 4K Steelbook version, with other physical editions of the movie–like Blu-ray and DVD–releasing on February 27.

Set up as a prequel, Wonka sees the eponymous character building his candy empire as he faces off against a chocolate cartel. Last year, Chalamet talked about how the movie is meant as a joyful escape from the harsh realities of the world. “In a time and climate of intense political rhetoric, when there’s so much bad news all the time, this is hopefully going to be a piece of chocolate,” the actor said.

In early December, Wonka got a poster with a creepy detail that’s difficult to unsee. While the chocolatier is “sitting down” in the image, it’s seemingly been photoshopped this way. Chalamet appears to actually be standing up in character. Thus, the poster just looks off in general.

Wonka premiered in theaters on December 15, so its Max debut will occur within three movies of hitting theaters. Meanwhile, Chalamet will be seen in Dune: Part Two when it releases March 1 on the silver screen.
