On Sunday, a group of young people horsing around at “the cliffs” — in Ungerman Park on Lake Muskoka, a popular spot to jump into the water — apparently offended an adult in the vicinity.
According to OPP Const. Samantha Bigley, the adult then assaulted a youth who was actually just passing by.
“The young person who was assaulted wasn’t involved in the dispute, just unfortunately was riding through when things were escalating,” said Bigley.
During the assault the adult threw the young man’s bike into the lake.
The victim was frightened enough to feel the need to hide until the adult left.
He suffered minor injuries, according to police, and the bicycle has not been recovered.
“No other young people were injured, but it’s accurate to say that they were scared,” said Bigley.
Police conducted an investigation, identified a suspect, and subsequently arrested a 32 year-old woman.
Brittany Tomasetti-Lahay, of Gravenhurst, is charged with assault and mischief under $5000.
The accused is expected to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge on June 28.
