0

As an introduction to the new and improved series, Wolfenstein: The New Order is considered by many to be one of the best in the Wolfenstein library. With new and exciting characters, as well as old favorites returning like BJ Blazkowicz and Caroline Becker, the game is an interesting perspective on what life would have been like if the events in the 1940s occurred differently.

10/10 Bobby Bram

As a member of the Kreisau Circle, Bobby Bram was an important part in helping the team against Deathshead and his men, especially in the early stages before Blazkowicz’s appearance. Though his presence in Wolfenstein: The New Order is quite short-lived, he makes a significant impact on the team in their fight.

During one of Blazkowicz’s missions into the London Nautica, Bobby Bram takes him there by his car. However, the entrance into the London Nautica is heavily guarded, posing an issue for Blazkowicz. Bobby decides to make his sacrifice here, and after dropping Blazkowicz off, he rams his explosive-filled car into the entrance. Though Bobby’s appearance in the game is brief, he is the reason for the beginning of the Kreisau Circle’s resistance against the Nazis.

9/10 Deathshead

Possibly one of the most disturbed and terrifying villains in the series, Wilhelm ‘Deathshead’ Strasse is a prominent figure in Nazi Germany, and he is the main antagonist that Blazkowicz must take down. He is introduced in the beginning of the game, forcing Blazkowicz to choose between saving Wyatt or Fergus.

When Blazkowicz returns to reality, Deathshead has become an incredibly powerful figure and works to capture the Kreisau Circle. Though Deathshead is a terrifying villain, he eventually loses the battle against Blazkowicz in the end, earning him a lower spot on this list.

8/10 Max Hass

Though Max has a relatively limited vocabulary, he wears his heart on his sleeve and is a great friend to all the Kreisau Circle members. He is often seen with Klaus Kreutz, who acts as his adoptive father. Klaus found Max behind a dumpster after his grandmother passed away, and he took him in.

Despite having half of his brain removed due to an injury in his childhood, Max is quite talented in a few different things, including art, chess, strength, and even billiards. He is a lovable character who is always willing to protect those around him, including Blazkowicz when he finds himself in danger.

7/10 Probst Wyatt III

Probst Wyatt III is one of the two characters at the beginning of the game that you can choose to save. If you do, Wyatt spends the rest of the game as a member of the Kreisau Circle and aiding Blazkowicz in his fight.

Wyatt is a very realistic character that is dealing with survivor’s guilt as well as other mental issues. He gives you a perspective into how much war can damage someone, and he becomes an even more fleshed out character in the following game. He is one of the youngest people on the team, and it shows through his actions and struggles.

6/10 Klaus Kreutz

A Nazi defector and adoptive father to Max Hass, Klaus Kreutz is a member of the Kreisau Circle, having joined after he lost his family to the Nazis. After losing his own son that had a disability, Klaus takes in Max Hass as his own after finding him abandoned.

Though Klaus ends up passing away relatively early in the game, he was a great example of a changed man who cared deeply for those in his life, especially Max. Before being taken out by Frau Engel’s soldiers, he worked as a support to the team.

5/10 Set Roth

Though Set Roth makes more of an appearance in Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus, he first appears in Wolfenstein: The New Order when Blazkowicz saves him from Camp Belica, a prison in Nazi Germany where they were forced to work on new weapons.

Set helped in the escape from Camp Belica surprisingly, injuring Frau Engel gravely and allowing their escape. He is incredibly smart and becomes the brains for the Kreisau Circle, helping to support Blazkowicz and create new weapons and items for him to equip.

4/10 Caroline Becker

Caroline is one of the most strong-willed characters in the Wolfenstein series and is the original founder and leader of the Kreisau Circle. Despite suffering multiple injuries that left her paralyzed from the waist down, Caroline kept hope and continued to work against Nazi Germany.

Caroline is one of the few characters that continues to believe in their cause despite how bad things get. She was especially important to Blazkowicz, serving as a beacon of hope and inspiration for him. If she hadn’t created the Kreisau Circle, many of the characters would no longer be around.

3/10 Anya Oliwa

Anya Oliwa is a brilliant nurse who took care of Blazkowicz for 14 years after his accident at the beginning of Wolfenstein: The New Order. After Blazkowicz wakes up from his catatonic state, they both work together to escape the asylum, eventually forming a strong bond.

When they both join the Kreisau Circle, Anya works on radio contact and often provides assistance to Blazkowicz. Similar to Caroline, Anya is especially strong-willed and refuses to give up when others do. She believes strongly in Blazkowicz’s abilities, and she will do anything in her power to come up with a solution to a seemingly unsolvable problem.

2/10 Fergus Reid

Fergus Reid is the other character you can choose to save from Deathshead at the beginning of Wolfenstein: The New Order. Fergus is good friends with Blazkowicz from the beginning, even working together in the prequel game, Wolfenstein: The Old Blood.

If you choose to save him, Blazkowicz will eventually find him in Eisenwald Prison and help him escape. Fergus then works together with Blazkowicz and the Kreisau Circle, often serving as his right-hand man and aiding him in missions.

1/10 B.J. Blazkowicz

As the main character of the series, B.J. Blazkowicz is an extremely strong soldier that wakes up from a catatonic state after 14 years and works together with Anya to take on Nazi Germany. Though not the smartest of the group, his strength and optimism makes up for this greatly.

Referred to as ‘Terror Billy’ by Nazi Germany, Blazkowicz’s abilities are nothing short of impressive. He is the main reason for the defeat of many different prominent enemies, including Deathshead and later Frau Engel, among others.
