Haz’s (Shiv Palekar) hacking storyline reached a peak today and left viewers on quite the cliffhanger as we eagerly wait for Monday’s new episode.
If you want to avoid all spoilers for ‘Neighbours’, stop reading this article now.
The past few months has seen Haz having to come clean about his past when a hacker started wreaking havoc by targeting his friends and neighbours. Initially it looked like it was Haz that was doing all of the shady deep fakes but it turned out it was fellow hacker Wade (Stephen Phillips) who had grown close to Mackenzie (Georgie Stone).
After coming clean to Andrew Rodwell (Lloyd Will), Haz seemingly did a runner to help Wade with his latest hacking project in a bid to stop him from ruining Mack’s life. Today’s episode revealed that Haz was working undercover for Andrew to record Wade’s confessions but before he got chance to gather all the evidence he needed, Wade caught on to what Haz was doing and made a run for it.
At the same time, Mack enlisted Karl’s (Alan Fletcher) help to locate Haz, unaware that Haz was working with Andrew. The episodes final moments saw Mack pulling up to the location where Haz was in her car but shockingly she hit him with her car as Wade made a quick getaway. Haz rolled over the bonnet, hit the floor and it looks like his life is hanging in the balance.
We think it’s unlikely that Haz will die for two reasons. Firstly, Wade is still on the loose and Haz is the guy that’s going to be able to track him down. This storyline may have reached a new peak but it’s far from over. Secondly, we don’t think the writers would be so cruel as to put Mack through the pain of losing another person she loves after what she went through with Hendrix (Ben Turland). If Haz did die, Mack would blame herself given she hit him with her car.
Our guess is that if Haz survives, he’ll won’t have to go to prison. Given that he confessed everything to Andrew and was working with the police to take Wade down, we’d suspect that he’ll be given some leniency for co-operating. Maybe he’ll have to do some community service like Melanie (Lucinda Cowden) did after her ordeal involving the cover-up of Krista’s (Majella Davis) ‘death’?
It’s hard to see how there could be but never say never. Haz and Mack have had feelings for one another for a while, and honestly who doesn’t have things in their past that they’re not proud of? The trust between Haz and Mack has irrevocably broken down so it will be a long road for them to rebuild that. The friction between them might lead to them changing their living arrangements but with time maybe their rift can be healed?
