Wild Hearts is still receiving a steady stream of updates every couple of weeks. The latest content drop included a pink Sakura wolf for players to take down.

Developers Koei Tecmo and Omega Star seem to be quite committed to keeping Wild Hearts fresh and shiny. They have started a cadence of releasing about 2 updates per month. These are not just simple balance changes and fixes, however, as the team provides a healthy stream of new monsters and activities.

This month’s first update dropped on April 6. The second will be on April 20th. Let’s talk about the first one, titled “Lethal Blossoms”. Just in time for Spring in Japan!

Wild Hearts: Lethal Blossoms Content Update

Arguably the two biggest additions in Wild Hearts‘ April update are the addition of a new Kemono specie and the Spinning Top Advanced Karakuri.

Spring Fever

The new monster to face is called the Murakamo. This is a gigantic pink fox imbued with the grace and beauty of Sakura petals.

The magnificent Murakamo can create pink petals out of thin air, creating a platform for it to jump on. This can make encounters with the Murakamo quite tricky, as they can easily leap over your field of view. While beautiful, the Sakura petals are extremely deadly.

The Murakamo can fling a barrage of these as makeshift blades, ensuring that they do a thousand cuts.

Beyblade Away!

To help players take down this wolf is the introduction of the Spinning Top Karakuri. Omega Force seems to have a lot of fun designing these contraptions, as their creativity seems to have no limit. We do remember the comically sized mallets that beat Kemono senseless. Now we have an ancient Beyblade top to play with.

This deadly toy is created with a set of launchers that give it enough momentum to spring forward with massive force. Once launched, the top will seek out any hostile targets, damaging them or even potentially knocking them down. What makes the Spinning Top even more fun is that it actually gains strength the more things it hits, instead of losing steam.

Perfect to take down the newly added Murakamo that’s quite lithe and agile!

The Rest of the Wild Hearts

The rest of the Lethal Blossoms update also introduces what is called the “Limit Break System”. It looks like players can choose to spend Core Orbs to keep on upgrading both their weapons and armor past the listed stats. Weapons, as expected, will increase the damage stats, while armor is expected to increase elemental resistances. The number of times you can Limit Break will depend on the item’s type.

Core Orbs are a resource that can be farmed by downing the endgame‘s Volatile Kemono. As these are the most challenging content in the game, don’t expect to be able to Limit Break everything from the get-go.

Beyond the Looking Glass

In other Wild Hearts news, the Omega Force team confirmed on Reddit that a second AMA will happen. It has been scheduled for today, April 11th at 12 noon Pacific Time. Developer Kyle “wolf_hands” Woodson will be joined again by Wild Hearts’ Executive Producer Lewis.

In an amusing twist, Woodson also acknowledged the somewhat controversial balancing changes the team has made to the fan-favorite Claw Blade weapon. He urges players to hide their Karakuri Pitchforks. The team is already aware of the unpopular changes and that more rebalances are planned for the weapon. While no exact timings were provided, it will be on or before the “Deathhaze Gloombeak” update, which is planned for April 20th.

This content update will include a new variation of an existing Kemono, the “Deathhaze Gloombeak” which seems to be quite the angry raven. New skills and quests related to the Deathhaze will also be added. In terms of new activities, they’ve only mentioned the existence of “Serial Hunts” which gives off the impression of taking down multiple Kemono in a row (or perhaps many at one time?). Players also cannot draw more healing waters from wells, adding to the challenging gauntlet.

The Wildest of Hearts

Hopefully one of the nearby updates will enhance the PC version’s bad optimization and performance. Perhaps the addition of Nvidia’s DLSS or FSR may do the trick.
