In a recent ad for a Logitech gaming headset, a short snippet around the 14-second mark shows an actress stepping around shelves of gaming hardware, and while one shelf shows a standard PlayStation 5, the one on the other end shows an Xbox Series X in full white. The advert continues without ever showing it again, but gamers were quick to spot the oddity. Aside from particular special editions, like the Thor: Love and Thunder Xbox Series X, the console has only been available in black since it released back in 2020. Could this be about to change?
There’s been no official confirmation of any kind, but with the context of the situation, it’s more likely for the answer to be a Yes rather than a No. Some form of a white Xbox Series X clearly exists, so what’s left is to discuss the why. Logitech could have custom painted a console, or requested Xbox make them a custom white console, purely for it to match the white background on the one-second shot that appears in the advert. The other option would be that Logitech had a soon-to-be-announced white Series X lying around and used it because they liked the look, either out of ignorance or to be purposefully cheeky.
Logitech is a public company, but it’s collaborated with Xbox in the past, such as with its recent Logitech G Cloud Handheld, a console specifically tailored to play Xbox games via cloud streaming. Therefore, it’s very possible for them to have upcoming devices available for testing and promotion.
Recently, Xbox revealed another iteration of their Elite Wireless Controller Series 2 in white, whereas the previous one had been all-black. It could be that Xbox is purposefully providing more options in order to give players the freedom to choose the look of their devices and better match their playing space, at least with the two neutral colors.
In the same vein, the Xbox Series S has only been available in white since its release, so, if this white Series X is to become available to customers, it’s worth wondering whether the opposite will be done for the less-powerful version. Xbox has been known to simply confirm things after they’ve been leaked, such as with the Series S itself, so all fans can do is hope that an official confirmation comes soon.
