Tango Gameworks surprised a lot of gamers with their sudden announcement and release of Hi-Fi Rush, but that wasn’t the only surprise hiding up the game’s sleeve. While playing, you may notice a few inaccessible areas, or realize you’ve failed some challenges, but the true amount of unlocked features after you beat the final boss
Now that you’ve gotten a feeling for the combat and controls, prepare to have the real game now open up to you. There is so much content kept almost completely secret until the end, it’s practically another game in itself. You have many more hours ahead of you.
10 Beat Your Previous Level Scores
For story reasons, you will finally be allowed to replay every track from the game. Tracks are effectively worlds or areas, linear-level structures with specific fights and collectibles. You can only select the track, meaning you’ll start from the beginning and replay each section.
While you’re doing this, it’s the perfect time to show off how much better you understand the combat as well as how many upgrades you’ve purchased since your last go at the level, by going for as many S-Ranks to replace those C’s or B’s. Your scores are only kept for difficulties you beat the levels on, so you may be here awhile with all the difficulties you skipped before if you want level scores on every difficulty.
9 Play The Game On Rhythm Master
Easy, Normal, Hard, and Very Hard were available from the start. But only after beating Kale Vandelay do you earn the chance to play on Rhythm Master. The enemies will be even tougher than they were on Very Hard, but now you also instantly fail when you get a D-Ranking.
This new difficulty is the hardest of them all, and while you may still have every upgrade you’ve already purchased, you may want to wait until you have them all before you try Rhythm Master. This is the difficulty you’ll get to brag about, the true showcase you’ve mastered the rhythm of the beat.
8 Climb The Rhythm Tower
If Rhythm Master wasn’t enough, there is also the Rhythm Tower. Have a chat with Korsica in your hideout, and she’ll give you the option of tackling this new set of challenges. Each level of the tower will see you defeating all enemies, and you’re on a strict time limit.
You’ll earn more time for every kill, as well as by parrying perfectly and other Just Hits.The game will tell you that you’ll earn Gears based on your score, but what it neglects to tell you is that if you end up with a low score, you will get zero Gears, an even bigger punishment than knowing you failed before the challenge even started.It’s going to be tough, and there are 60 levels in total. Even just getting that far will test you, let alone doing the whole thing at an S rank.
7 Finish The Wall Of Fame Painting
Beating the Rhythm Tower, as well as beating it with an S-Rank, are part of the new challenges unlocked at the mural. You were unlocking plenty of challenges for the mural before, but now the hardest ones show up, along with a few final stage challenge strands such as killing Vandelay robots to earning amounts of Gears.
This is because the numbers will reach numbers so high you would have never been able to earn them without the Level Select. You need to finish the entire Wall Of Fame for an achievement, aside from just having a cool in-game painting. Don’t forget as well, every challenge earns you an extra reward, be it Gear, or a new currency.
6 Earn Bonus Tickets
These tickets will be earned by doing a few of the new challenges. There are enough tickets to buy specific features, once again only unlocked after beating the game. Your upgrades will still take Gears, so the tickets are just for the new unlocked features.
Even if you don’t want to earn every single one, you may want to single out certain challenges once you find out what you can spend these fun little tickets on.
5 View Models In The Model Viewer
After spending over a dozen or so hours with this cast of characters, you might just be happy to know that you can view all of their models whenever you’d like. If, you have the tickets. Talk to Korsica again, and instead of talking about the Rhythm Tower, say you want to check out the Model Viewer.
Every model will be blacked out, but you’ll still have the name of each character, just so you know who you’re buying. These characters range from Chai and Peppermint to every enemy and NPC. These models even have fun tidbits such as everyone’s ages, or hidden backstories from each Vandelay robot model.
4 Change The Soundtrack Playing In The Hideout
Tired of the same song that plays every time you’re in the hideout? Go to the jukebox that suddenly appeared in your hideout, and you’ll find every single song from the game. If you have the Tickets, you can buy any or all of them.
After you purchase the song, just play it, and if you walk away from the jukebox it will continue to play as you walk around the hideout. Have the most epic boss fight tunes play as you politely chat with your team. You may want to choose CNMN.
3 Buy New Clothing Options From CNMN
Perhaps one of the biggest surprises the postgame has to offer is that you can customize Chai and friends. This feature isn’t so much as hinted at, but now, you can go up to CNMN and buy clothes from him. Despite being a post-game unlock, you don’t use Bonus Tickets, just Gears.
Your teammates will only have full outfits you can buy for them, such as a hotdog suit for CNMN or letting 808 cosplay as Peppermint.Chai however will both have full outfits, plus the option to customize his hair, scarf, jacket, shirt, pants, shoes, robot arm, and guitar. Dye Chai’s hair grey and you can have an easier time pretending you’re playing a rhythm game spin-off of Devil May Cry.
2 Finally Open The SPECTRA Doors
You probably found a few of these Doors on your original playthrough. Not even Korsica had any idea what hid behind them. They’ve now opened, and tough challenges await you. Each of these 8 doors will vary in its challenges.
For example, the very first door back in Track 1 will see you facing several flying enemies, and you have to defeat each one while not touching the floor. Touching the floor will make you instantly fail, and you’ll have to start over again. Once you beat all 8, believe it or not, you’re halfway done.
1 Fight The Secret Boss
Peppermint will eventually figure out the secret of the SPECTRA doors, and it’s yet another SPECTRA room. She’ll bring you there, and you’ll have another set of challenge doors to complete, followed by the hardest boss fight the game will throw at you. Don’t forget your upgrades.
You will want max health, powerful team attacks, and as many combos as you can memorize. It’ll be up to you to decide which ends up the toughest; this secret boss, Rhythm Master, of the Rhythm Tower. Either way, the post-game is full of the hardest challenges for those that them, as well as fun cosmetics.
