Following recent rumors, Activision confirmed the delay of Warzone 2 Season 2, but a new Resurgence map was also announced in the statement.

In an announcement post confirming the delay of Season 2, Call of Duty confirmed that Warzone 2.0 will be receiving a brand new resurgence map during the course of the upcoming season.

Earlier this week, it was rumored by prominent members of the Call of Duty community that the release of Season 2 had been delayed by approximately two weeks. Activision has now confirmed this to be the case, as the studio states that Season 2 will now launch on February 15th. “Our studio teams have been making several changes based on what we have heard from our player community”, reads the announcement.

Interestingly, the post then casually drops in confirmation of another rumor. “Season 2 includes all new content, with the return of resurgence and a brand new small map for Warzone 2.0.” So, although fans will be waiting a little longer to get their hands on some new content for both Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2.0, it seems as though it’ll be worth the wait.

The announcement goes on to express reveal that ranked play will also be returning to Modern Warfare 2, along with new multiplayer maps, modes, weapons, and “much more.” Infinity Ward, the developers behind Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2.0, followed up the announcement with a quote retweet, saying that it looks forward to sharing more details on Season 2 in a deep-dive blog post next week.

Although more details will be shared at a later date, Infinity Ward did reveal that some big changes are coming to Warzone 2.0. The brief post claims that fans can expect “exciting changes” to the gulag, the looting system, and loadouts. All three of which have been a hot topic amongst the Call of Duty community since Warzone’s successor was released in November of last year.

Funnily enough, CharlieIntel noted that we’re all actually experiencing a case of deja vu, as the exact same scenario was previously played out with the release of Vanguard Season 2. On January 19th of 2022, Season 2 of Vanguard was delayed from February 2nd to February 14th. Now, fast forward to 2023, Activision has delayed the release of Modern Warfare 2 Season 2 from February 1st to February 15th.

The delay comes amidst a rumor that Warzone 2’s player count has seen a drastic decrease, likely due to the major changes Infinity Ward has made to the new Battle Royale iteration. With major changes on the horizon for Season 2, will we finally see some community feedback implemented?
