Walter Presents: ‘You Shall Not Lie’ on C4 Streaming in June

Walter Presents is bringing Spanish series ‘You Shall Not Lie’ to C4 Streaming in June it has been confirmed.

Created and directed by Pau Friexas, the six-part series stars Irene Arcos, Natalia Verbeke and Eva Santolaria. The twisty drama is a murder mystery that revolves around a scandal.

Macarena is a teacher at a prestigious school in Belmonte, an idyllic seaside development of luxury homes where she leads a peaceful life with her teenage daughter Natalia and her husband Néstor, a well-known psychiatrist.

However, one day, during teaching her class, everyone’s phones start to ring, interrupting her lesson and she notices all eyes are suddenly on her. Before she can ask what is going on, there’s a knock on the door. The school principal takes her to his office and shows her his phone. Macarena can’t believe her eyes: she’s seeing a video of herself having sex with one of her students, Iván, son of Ana, her best friend. The video has spread like wildfire across social networks and messaging platforms.

Macarena is fired on the spot. When she gets home, she realises her family has also seen the video. Néstor, her husband, has packed her bags, and her daughter Natalia won’t even see her. Rejected in her own home, she doesn’t have a choice but to go and stay with her father, now an old man who barely recognises her.

Iván insists Macarena and he have been deeply in love for years. Macarena says they had sex only once, which was a mistake, and Iván was eighteen when it happened. Who is telling the truth?

In the midst of the storm of jealousy and spurned love among Belmonte families, a dead body suddenly appears: Iván’s. The boy’s corpse is found at the bottom of a local cliff holding a suicide note. And yet, nothing seems quite clear cut: Did he really write that note? Does Macarena have something to do with his death? Is there someone else involved?
