Vigilance at Sea is a minigame in Genshin Impact. In it, you’ll control your Waverider, collecting coins and doing your best to stay alive. At the end of your run, your score is tallied to see how far you’ve progressed. Here’s our Genshin Impact Vigilance at Sea guide to help you with this activity that’s part of Lantern Rite 2023.

Genshin Impact Vigilance at Sea guide (Lantern Rite 2023)

Similar to the other minigames in Lantern Rite 2023, Vigilance at Sea in Genshin Impact has a rather short quest before you can start the task. Simply fast travel to the Alcor and talk to the NPC there. After that, a dialogue option will pop up where you can do the minigame. Here’s the gist:

  • There are two modes: Tranquil Waters and Billowing Waves.
    • Tranquil Waters – This is the single-player mode. Collect coins and keep your Waverider intact (you have six lives). If it’s destroyed, the challenge will end.
    • Billowing Waves – This is the four-player co-op mode. Everyone goes around collecting coins (counted individually). While this isn’t necessarily PvP, you’re still competing against others when it comes to gathering coins. If your Waverider is destroyed (you have three lives), it’ll have a ghostly outline for a few seconds. A new one that’s fully intact (back to three lives) will be controllable soon, and you can continue collecting until the time limit expires.

  • Maps are chosen at random:
    • Crossing the Thrumming Waves – Whirlpools, and even giant ones, may appear. Some may boost your Waverider’s speed.
    • Floating Lanterns’ Mystique – Multiple Xiao Lanterns will spawn. Collect those of the same color while following fireworks for bonuses. If you grab lanterns with different colors, your Waverider will take damage instead.
    • Mystical Elevation – Balloons will float in mid-air. They can either drop a crate that has coins or a bomb.
  • Right-click is used to gain a speed boost, whereas “E” activates a particular skill. The available skills come from a pool, including dustball (i.e., vision impairment), vortex drop, forward thrust, and increased coin collection radius.
  • At the end of your run, you’ll receive a score based on the number of coins you’ve amassed. Each subsequent phase of the Vigilance at Sea minigame in Genshin Impact will increase the score cap/threshold, too. For instance, you can only have up to 2,000 points during the first day, but the cap will become 3,000 on the next phase.
