Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 is still alive but won’t be at PDXCON 2022

Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2’s development has been marred with bad press and turmoil since its announcement in March of 2019.

However it appears that there may be some good news to go along with the bad. Yesterday, Fredrik Wester, CEO of Paradox Interactive confirmed that the game is still in development.

Furthermore, Wester also teased that the game is “in good hands” and that they want to show more when the team is ready. While it is good to know that Bloodlines 2 is not dead, it was not all good news from Wester’s twitter account.

A follow responded to his tweet asking, “Any chance we’ll get a peak during PDXCon this year?” to which Wester replied “Unfortunately not this time.”

Bloodlines 2 was first announced back in 2019 with lead narrative designer, Brian Mitsoda, who worked as a designer and writer on the original Bloodlines, along with senior narrative designer Cara Ellison.

Since then, however, Mitsoda, Ellison, and the creative director Ka’ai Cluney left the project just a year later in 2020 and information went quiet. That was until February 2021 when the game was “delayed indefinitely” while the studio working on the game, Hardsuit Labs, was removed from the project.

Wester hinted in late 2021 that the game was nearly cancelled after what Hardsuit Labs had been working on was scrapped, but heard a pitch that was so appealing that he decided to give the game another shot.

The studio working on the game has not been named to ensure that fans do not pester them during development, which is a unique way to deal with more overzealous fans to be sure, however the lack of information does not instill confidence in the product.

Regardless, we can all hope that time has been kind to the development of Bloodlines 2 and we will get to play another iconic RPG based in the classic tabletop world.

Vampire: the Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 is set for a release across Windows PC (via SteamGOG, and the Epic Games Store), Xbox One, Xbox Series X+S, PS4, and PS5.
