After creating your Riot Games account you’ll be able to login to Valorant and begin playing, but you aren’t stuck with your account name as your in-game tag. Here’s how to change name in Valorant if you’re unsure of the process.

How to Change Name in Valorant

As alluded to above, by default, your gamer tag in Valorant is whatever account name you entered when you created a Riot Games account. Sometimes, these names can be awkward because so many names have already been taken. Don’t worry, though, this is changeable.

The process is super simple and can be broken down into four easy steps:

  1. Log into your Riot account
  2. Go to the Riot ID tab
  3. Click on the pen next to your Valorant name.
  4. Enter the Valorant name you want to use.

As you can see above, once you log into the game’s official website you’ll be presented with the account page above. You’ll need to click on the “Riot ID” tab we’ve circled.

Now you’re taken to the page that allows you to actually enter a brand new ID. This won’t actually change the original account name that you used to signup, but rather, your gamer tag that is displayed in-game. You will also have the option to change the numbers associated with your gamer tag, which you might like to do in order to make it easy to give out your ID to friends. If you’re not fussed, though, just click randomize.

Don’t worry about losing anybody on your current friends list, either. All of your friends will remain intact, though they’ll now see your new gamer tag and ID instead of the old one.
