Valkyrie Rush: Idle & Merge, the fantasy-themed AFK RPG, is set to end service within the coming months

Com2Us has announced that their idle RPG Valkyrie Rush: Idle & Merge is set to shut down service for the game come May 11th. Having been out for only a little over a year, Valkyrie Rush will begin to slow down content production before it fully closes its doors later this year.

Valkyrie Rush was never one of the bigger names within the idle genre sphere, failing to live up to legends like AFK Arena or even something like Tap Titans. The reasons for this were never entirely clear, though a lot of the game’s fanbase claimed that the practices for in-game purchases and the like were a little too greedy for their liking.

While it is just speculation, it’s quite possible that this is the biggest reason for the game’s shutdown. As is typically the case when it comes to mobile game closures like this, there wasn’t a solid reasoning offered with the announcement, so all we can do is guess.

The worst news of it all is that the game has officially been removed from storefronts as of April 11th as well, so while players who already had it installed can continue to enjoy the game until May 11th, the rest of us have been closed off from the experience.

Along with that fact, this also means that even existing players are unlikely to get much more than a small drip feed of life support content until the game does shut down for good. As unfortunate as it may be to see another casualty of the market, Valkyrie Rush never seemed particularly beloved, so I doubt this one comes as much of a shock.

Still, it’s always a bit of a bummer to see any game get closed off for good, never to be seen again. Unfortunately, sometimes that’s just the way the mobile market goes.
