Though the V Rising Steam page mentions you can play the game offline, the reality is quite different. In its current Early Access form, the game doesn’t have offline play enabled. Introverted vampires and solo fans alike are unable to build the gloomy castles of their dreams without fear from player harassment. However, that is set to change. Developer Stunlock Studios put out a message recently, saying offline play will come “as soon as possible.” It may even be this week.
The message was broadcast via the game’s Discord channel. Stunlock writes, via PC Gamer: “We’ve prioritized making [offline play] available as soon as possible.”
“For those of you who can’t play now because of this due to inconsistent internet connections or something along those lines, we apologize for the inconvenience this will cause,” the developer continued. “It’s our estimation that offline play should be available some time in the next couple of days, but may be earlier.”
V Rising can’t be played offline just yet.
Arise, solo vampires
The lack of offline play hasn’t put much of a dent the reception for V Rising. It stands at Very Positive on Steam, with more than 4,000 reviews. However, there are quite a few players bemoaning the missing mode. While the supernatural survival game is doing quite well, with 74,000 players at writing, there are still many who want to tackle it solo.
For those left who are unaware, V Rising is a top-down survival game where you play as a returning vampire lord. After snoozing for centuries, you awake in a world that’s changed. Your mighty castle needs rebuilding, and pesky humans roam the land. The game has resources to gather, items to craft, and horses to ride. It’s also co-op, which is currently suggested. After all, you still need to defend your homestead without the offline play available. Players are often worse than wolf packs, and a bit more annoying.
