Ubisoft Says It Has “A Lot Of Things To Show” At E3 2023

The publisher will be in attendance at this year’s E3, “if it happens.”

Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot has said that the publisher will attend this year’s E3 expo with “lots of things to show.” Guillemot also remarked that Ubisoft would be in attendance “if” E3 actually happens.

Late last year, event organisers ReedPOP confirmed that E3 would be returning for an in-person event in 2023 for the first time since 2019. The gaming expo has seen increasing difficulties in recent years due to the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, having been forced to cancel numerous events. The last E3 event took place in 2021 but was strictly an online-only showcase.

Despite only being four months away, Ubisoft is the first major company to confirm its attendance at the upcoming gaming expo. It was reported last month that the three powerhouses of the gaming industry (Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo) would not be attending E3 2023. However, ReedPOP is yet to confirm whether or not these rumors were factual.

In response to the reports, ReedPOP said it was “not able to comment on the specific claims,” but that it would “share news and developments regarding E3 as they are available.” Despite the lack of publishers confirming their attendance at this year’s E3, there’s no indication that the event won’t be going ahead as planned, so it is unclear as to why Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot remarked that the company would attend “if” it is to go ahead.

Ubisoft recently confirmed it would be canceling three unannounced projects, whilst also delaying the release of its upcoming action-adventure pirate game, Skull and Bones, for the sixth time. Despite the plethora of delays and cancelations at the company, it does still have plenty in the pipeline that could appear at E3 2023.

The studio has confirmed that Beyond Good & Evil 2 is still in active development, whilst also continuing to host new playtests for the upcoming FPS title, XDefiant. There’s also the studio’s recently announced racing title, The Crew Motorfest, and the highly anticipated release of Assassin’s Creed Mirage, which still doesn’t have a firm release date.
