Tower of Fantasy is a Sci-Fi alternative to the Fantasy Genshin Impact. Pre-registration has already begun and a new teaser trailer is available.
Tower of Fantasy Pre-Registration is Available Now, Gets New “Worldview” Trailer
Not everyone is a fan of fantasy games. Instead of swords, bows, and magic, sometimes something more scientific is the answer. Tower of Fantasy, which we talked about a few months ago, is developer Hotta’s answer to a Sci-Fi version of Genshin Impact.
Last June 25, 2022, the developers were proud to announce the beginning of the pre-registration period. Eager fans can now sign up for the open-world MMO.
Tower of Fantasy Pre-Registration
Level Infinite and Hotta Studio announced last month that Tower of Fantasy is planned for a global release sometime in Q3 2022. The game will support eight languages initially at launch, though it is unclear if they will work on more. At launch, the languages will be English, Japanese, German, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Thai, and Indonesian.
Pre-registration is done on the game’s main website for PC players and the PlayStore or Apple Store for mobile users. The game’s Steam and Epic pages are already up as well and can be added to players’ wishlists.
Pre-Registration Rewards
To garner more hype, the developers have started a Pre-Registration campaign. This event will reward all the players depending on how many people actually sign up for access.
Here are the current rewards, as well as the number of players required to reach each tier:
- 500,000 players: Astra Frame x1, Black Nucleus X2, Wholegrain Bread X10, Gold x2888.
- 1 million players: Limited Title x1, Black Nucleus X3, Fried Chicken X10, Weapon Battery III X4.
- 1.5 million players: Gold Nucleus X3, Avatar: Zeke x1, Sizzling Meat X10, Gold x3888
- 2 million players: Jetpack Paint: Orion x1, Gold Nucleus X3, Crispy Grilled Fish x10, Weapon battery III X4
- 2.5 million players: Outfit: Star Sand X1, Gold Nucleus X4, Nut Tea X10, Gold X6888.
As of writing, there have been just over 1,032,000 signups. It isn’t clear how long this pre-registration reward period will last, so better tell your friends if you want that Star Sand Outfit!
All players (called Wanderers) will have 180 days after the official launch to claim all of their rewards. If not, everything will disappear into the void.
Tower of Fantasy’s Worldview Trailer
Building up even more hype was today’s reveal of the “Worldview Trailer”. In this turn of events, Hotta Studio portrayed Tower of Fantasy’s story in a darker, more serious tone than was initially revealed.
This trailer mainly focused on siblings Shirli and Zeke, a couple of characters who have been used heavily in the promotional materials of ToF. Shirli, in particular, looks eerily similar to Genshin Impact’s Lumine. We see that Shirli is infected by some sort of virus in the trailer, creating ghastly glowing veins to sprout on her face. She even gets her eyes infected.
Shirli then begs her brother to shoot her as she “doesn’t want to end up like those things”. This paints a pretty grim picture. Hopefully, the team at Hotta Studio can pull off a mature, serious story and portray it well. This would be something that will definitely set it apart from its influences.
The Character Creator
Tower of Fantasy looks and feels like an alternative to Genshin Impact, from the colorful landscapes to the art style. However, that doesn’t mean it is a carbon copy. Far from it. The game will feature in-depth character customization, instead of being forced to play one of two pre-determined personas.
Players will be able to select many options to create their own Wanderer. Gender, body type, outfits, colors, and even different layers of hair can be mixed and matched to truly make a hero to call your own.
While it may not be as in-depth as something like Black Desert or even Lost Ark, it is still a great step in the right direction. This is especially important as the game is touting itself as an MMO. You can’t look the same as everyone else, right?
The Tower of Fantasy Simulacrum
Much like Genshin Impact, Tower of Fantasy is also a Gatcha game wherein you chase after amazing characters and weapons. However, Tower of Fantasy does have a lore-friendly explanation as to why your character can morph into extremely different characters at the click of a button.
Enter the Simulacrum, the system wherein the Wanderer will purchase (or Gatcha roll) weapons. These weapons are called Simulacra and house advanced AI that has retained the personality, looks, and traits of ancient heroes of the past. By wielding Simulacra, the player’s Wanderer can choose to take upon the appearance of these ancient heroes and make use of their powers directly.
Though if the player was able to create a super good-looking Wanderer and would prefer to play as that character all the time, they have the option of doing so. Taking on a Simulacra’s appearance is completely optional.
Simulacra are purchased by using the Gold Nucleus resource, Tower of Fantasy’s version of Intertwined or Acquaint Fate.
Ascending the Tower
Tower of Fantasy is planned to release in the 3rd Quarter of 2022, though the exact date is pending. It will release initially via a downloadable client from their main site or Android and iOS Stores. The Steam and Epic releases will come shortly after.
