For today’s word, I decided to start with the word ‘QUEST’ inspired by the hours spent playing an RPG yesterday. Little did I know that, when it comes to vowels, I was pretty close! After trying ‘TABLE’ and landing no hits, I went with ‘NOVEL’ which gave me two letters. With only a few tries left, it was hard to pick the next word. Finally, I decided to go with ‘BABEL’. Eventually, I got to ‘BEVEL’.

Today’s Wordle etymology

This word probably comes from Medieval Latin which originated the word ‘BAÏF’ in Old French. The oldest record we have of the word ‘BEVEL’ is from the 16th century as an adjective and noun. In the 17th century, we can find it as a verb to represent the action of bringing to a slope.

Thankfully, the number of guesses you’re given increases alongside the amount of words you’re expected to solve.
