To celebrate 15 years of Assassin’s Creed, Ubisoft is releasing free content

It’s been 15 years since players first dove off high buildings and into hay as Altaïr in 2007’s Assassin’s Creed. Since then, the franchise has exploded, taking assassin’s from Rome to the high seas. During Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed livestream, the company announced that it’s giving you a reason to go back in time and replay some of the classic (and not-so-classic) releases. Throughout the summer, Ubisoft is releasing free content for each Assassin’s Creed game, starting with Valhalla.

From now and until September, Assassin’s Creed games are getting free content. There are 12 games from the series getting the good stuff. Each week will feature a different game, which means we’ll have two for June, and four per month through July and August. The final two games round out the celebration in September.

As per the roadmap, the first two games getting content are Valhalla and Odyssey. Origins, Syndicate, Unity, and Rogue are highlighted for July. Black Flag (arguably the best one), AC 3 (arguably the worst), Revelations, and Brotherhood are getting content in August. Finally, the ones that started it all, Assassin’s Creed and Assassin’s Creed II get content in September.

Is that a challenge?

Ubisoft isn’t all that clear as to what kind of free content is coming to these Assassin’s Creed games. During the livestream, the announcement came and went by as speedy as Senu spotting an injured rabbit. The show mostly revolved around showing off Origins with a 60 fps patch for consoles. All we know is that there’s content coming, along with prizes.

Yes, prizes. Ubisoft revealed the “12 Trials,” a quiz that let’s fans and people with access to an internet search bar answer questions for points. With more points, you up the chances of earning rewards. This week, you can take the quiz for Valhalla. If you want to know more about the content and take the quiz, head over to the celebration page.

Beyond the aforementioned news, Ubisoft is promising to show off the “future of Assassin’s Creed” later this September. The reveal will be part of a new event. Assassin’s Creed Origins is also going for free this weekend through Stadia and Ubisoft Connect on PC.
