10/10 Practice Your Abilities

The key to mastering a new hero is to fully understand their available abilities. Knowing how a hero wants to be played can enhance your experience and help you get the most out of your matches. If you are new to Ramattra, read through his abilities and head to the training grounds to test them out.

Ramattra plays a bit like a combination between Doomfist and Sigma. Switching between ranged positioning and melee close quarters, Ramattra should weave in and out as he uses his abilities.

9/10 Start With Your Team

While in Omnic Form, Ramattra should play in a reserved position. You will want to stay near your team and use the ranged abilities of Omnic Form until you are ready to commit to fighting in a certain location.

Once your team is ready to dive, pop Nemesis Form and engage the enemy team aggressively. The best use of Ramattra is when you can use your Omnic Form abilities (throw up a Void Barrier and drain your Void Accelerator ammunition) before using Nemesis Form. Once you switch forms, your new abilities will be ready to use.

8/10 Tank Passively In Omnic Form

While in Omnic Form, Ramattra is not as tanky as in his Nemesis Form. When you are waiting for Nemesis Form to be off cooldown, or your team isn’t ready to fully engage yet, play passively. In Omnic Form, Ramattra only has Void Barrier to protect himself and his allies.

Void Barrier is a hefty wall, 1000 health with a 4-second duration on the battlefield, but it’s his only defensive capability while in Omnic Form. Since you will always start in Omnic Form, get used to playing alongside your backline at the start of skirmishes and learn when to dive in or when to stay patient.

7/10 Manage Your Cooldowns

Void Barrier and Ravenous Vortex have relatively long cooldown durations, 15 seconds and 12 seconds respectively. So make sure to know where your cooldowns are in their recharge process when taking fights or using your Nemesis Form. Without a Void Barrier or Ravenous Vortex available, it can be tricky to protect your team.

Keep an eye on these cooldowns and think about popping an early Nemesis Form and going aggressive if you need to tank heavy damage. Without a lot of mobility, a large health pool, or an ever-present wall like Reignhardt’s, Ramattra is vulnerable when his abilities are on cooldown.

6/10 Change Your Playstyle When In Nemesis Form

Once Nemesis Form is initiated, get aggressive and draw the fire from your opponents – tank by distraction and absorption. When it’s activated, Nemesis Form grants Ramattra 150 armor, replaces his two main abilities, and lasts for 8 seconds. While in Nemesis Form, Void Accelerator is replaced by Pummel.

Pummel has infinite ammo, so long as you stay in Nemesis Form, but has a much shorter range and slower fire rate than Void Accelerator. Block also replaces Void Barrier, which allows Ramattra to toggle on or off a 75% damage reduction at the cost of being able to fire his abilities. Block also slows your movement, so be aware of your position when using it.

5/10 Take Advantage Of Annihilation’s Range

Ramattra’s ultimate ability Annihilation has a 13-meter radius of effect. To gauge this in a game, Pummel has a range of 12 meters. If opponents are in the range of your Pummels while in Nemesis Form, then they should also be in the range of your ultimate.

As Annihilation hits enemies, its duration timer stops, increasing the overall uptime for the ability. Staying in range of your enemies is key while Annihilation is active. The increased uptime of Annihilation will also extend Ramattra’s Nemesis Form and in turn increase his ability to tank.

4/10 Use Pummel To Reach Additional Opponents

Pummel is a ranged projectile that can reach areas that many other attacks cannot. Although it’s only usable while in Nemesis Form, Pummel shines because of its ability to pierce through enemies and barriers.

When attacking an enemy team, opposing barriers do not deter Ramattra’s ability to hit the enemy. Pummel will damage the barrier that it hits, while also penetrating it to hit enemies behind the defensive shield. Additionally, Pummel will pierce through enemy players, making it a futile strategy for enemies to stand behind their tanks to avoid it.

3/10 Increase Your Uptime In Nemesis Form

Nemesis Form is where Ramattra really shines as a tank. The increased armor, damage reduction, and the ability to pierce with Pummel are all incredibly powerful advantages. While in Omnic Form, Ramattra has a powerful shield to protect his team. However, in Nemesis Form Ramattra can aggressively take positions and secure objectives.

Use your Nemesis Form cooldown often and early when engaging the enemy. Also, take advantage of the duration pause from Annihilation by staying in range of enemies while its active. This will provide Ramattra with the buffs he needs to stay in enemy territory without being at too much risk from enemy attacks.

2/10 Use Block Selectively

Using Block is a powerful defensive ability for Ramattra to use when expecting incoming damage. The damage reduction is significant when you know that the enemy team is focusing on you. However, along with the 75% damage reduction comes a -50% movement penalty and the inability to use your damaging spells.

With no cooldown upon deactivation, Block is best used by turning it on and off quickly as needed. Try to use Block as little as you can, so that you can increase your damage output, but not so little that your healers have trouble keeping you alive.

1/10 Chain Your Abilities Together

Ramattra has an excellent toolkit that is best used in harmony. Try using your Void Barrier, firing the 100 available ammunition of Void Accelerator, then pop Nemesis Form and engage in closer combat. Once your Nemesis Form expires, your Omnic Form abilities will be ready to go again.

Annihilation also works perfectly with Ravenous Vortex and Pummel. Try hitting multiple enemies with Ravenous Vortex, pop Annihilation, and then run the enemy team down with Pummel until you have a team kill. Using your abilities in succession will empower each one and can be devastating to your opponents.
