The Kamisato’s housekeeper, Thoma joined the Genshin Impact roster in 2.2, and since the release of Dendro in 3.0, Thoma has become one of the best units for use in Burgeon teams while also being a solid shielder for normal attack-focused units such as Yoimiya or Kamisato Ayato.

With that in mind, Thoma has a couple of builds that you can run on him, so here’s how you can build your Thoma.

Thoma Best Builds & Artifact Sets

Thoma can work in a Sub-DPS but is usually outperformed by Xiangling. However, he is a great enabler for Burgeon and his stacking shields can become some of the strongest in the game.

4-Piece Gilded Dreams

Gilded Dreams works well on Thoma in Burgeon teams, and being coupled with Deepwood Memories gives its domain good farming value. The 2-Piece of this set gives the equipped character +80 Elemental Mastery, and the 4-piece will give an additional 14% ATK for every character of the same Elemental type in the party, while also giving a 50 Elemental increase for every character of a different Elemental type in the party.

This is useful for burgeon Thoma, as a burgeon team will usually have Thoma as the only Pyro character to not over-apply Pyro and accidentally trigger Burning. And, the Elemental Mastery bonuses will increase the damage to his Burgeon reactions.

4-Piece Flower Of Paradise Lost

Flower of Paradise Lost will increase the damage to Thoma’s Burgeon reactions. However, the City of Gold domain doesn’t have as much farming value as the Spire of Solitary Enlightenment, so you may not have many artifacts on hand. Like with Gilded Dreams, The 2-Piece set will increase Elemental Mastery by 80, and the 4-Piece will give a damage bonus to Bloom, Hyperbloom, and Burgeon reactions. Additionally, after triggering one of these reactions, they will gain a further 25% bonus; each of these stacks lasts 10 seconds and will stack up to 4 times. These effects can only be activated once every second and can still be activated while off the field.

4-Piece Emblem Of Severed Fate

If Xiangling is unavailable, Thoma can be played as a Sub-DPS to vape teams using Emblem of Severed Fate. The 2-Piece bonus increases Energy Recharge by 20%, but the set shines at its 4-Piece bonus, which increases the wearer’s Elemental Burst DMG by 25% of their Energy Recharge, reaching a maximum of 75% bonus DMG. Thoma is a very Energy-hungry unit, so this set is really useful to have for Energy while also increasing the DPS from his Elemental Burst.

For shielding, Thoma requires more HP to increase his shield strength. So, you can run him with 2-Piece Tenacity of the Millelith and 2-Piece Emblem of Severed Fate or even just 4-Piece Tenacity of the Millelith.

Thoma’s Stats will vary depending on the role and team you want to play him in. For example, a Burgeon enabler Thoma might build full Elemental Mastery, while a Shielder might build full HP, or a Sub-DPS would build as any normal Sub-DPS. Thoma will always need some Energy Recharge increases, as he is very Energy hungry and Burst reliant.

Thoma Best 5-Star & 4-Star Weapons

Genshin Impact Thoma Best Weapons Engulfing Lightning, Staff Of Homa, Kitian Cross Spear, The Catch

As mentioned before, Thoma is extremely Energy hungry, so any of the free Energy Recharge weapons you can get such as Favonius Lance would be very useful on him, but here are a few of the more efficient weapons you can get for him.

5-Star Weapons: Engulfing Lightning & Staff Of Homa

Engulfing Lightning will be strong on a 4-Piece Emblem of Severed Fate build Thoma and will help a lot with his Energy Recharge. At level 90, the Base ATK is 608, and it has an Energy Recharge Sub-stat of 55.1%. The passive will increase ATK by 28% of their Energy Recharge over the base 100%. This bonus can reach a maximum of 80%. It will also increase Energy Recharge by 30% after using an Elemental Burst. Engulfing Lightning is the signature weapon of Raiden Shogun and is available on weapon banners run beside her.

Staff of Homa is a good option for Thoma in a Sub-DPS role. At level 90, it has a Base ATK of 608 with a Crit DMG Sub-stat of 66.2%. Additionally, it will increase Max HP by 20% and increase ATK by 0.8% of Max HP, which will increase by 1% of the Max HP if the character falls below 50% of their Max HP.

The Crit DMG Sub-stat is a great stat crutch for Thoma, while the HP increases are useful for strengthening Thoma’s shields.

Staff of Homa is Hu Tao’s signature weapon and will be run on weapon banners beside her.

4-Star Weapons: Kitian Cross Spear & The Catch

Kitian Cross Spear is easy to obtain from crafting and is surprisingly good on Thoma. At Level 90, the Base ATK sits at 565 and has an Elemental Mastery Sub-stat of 110. The weapon will increase Elemental Skill damage by 6%, and when the character uses an Elemental skill, they will lose 3 Energy and generate 3 Energy every 2 seconds for the following 6 seconds (to regenerate 9 Energy). This can occur once every 10 seconds and can still take effect while the character is off-field.

As mentioned before, this weapon can be crafted after the recipe is unlocked in Inazuma.

Because of the loss of Energy when casting an Elemental Skill, players should avoid using their Elemental Skill before using their Elemental Burst.

The Catch is a simple and useful weapon for any character. At level 90, the Base ATK is 510 with an Energy Recharge Sub-stat of 45.9%. At refinement rank 5, the passive simply increases Elemental Burst damage by 32% and Elemental Burst Crit rate by 12%.

The Catch, along with its refinement materials, can be obtained from Kujirai Momiji in Inazuma in exchange for fish.

Thoma Best Team Compositions

Genshin Impact Thoma Burgeon Team, Kamisato Ayato, Dendro Traveller, Fischl

Best Burgeon Team

Thoma works as a very strong Burgeon enabler with the coordinated Pyro attacks from his burst. Dendro Traveler can act as a Dendro Applier, while Kamisato Ayato applies Hydro and uses Normal attacks to trigger Thoma’s burst, creating Bloom seeds and triggering Burgeon. The last member can be a flex character such as another Hydro or Dendro applier or even a Healer. Fischl will also work well, as her Aggravate/Spread activation will increase the team’s damage without interfering with Burgeon. she will also be able to help Thoma with Energy recharge.

Kamisato Ayato can be replaced with another Hydro Applier such as Sangonomiya Kokomi or Tartaglia. Or you could use an on-field Dendro Applier such as Alhaitham or Yaoyao with an off-field Hydro Applier like Yelan or Xingqiu.

Dendro Traveler can be replaced with Nahida for easier and more efficient Dendro application as well as the many buffs the party gains from her Elemental Burst.

Best Normal Attack Team

Because of how Thoma’s Elemental Burst works, he is a good shielder or Sub-DPS option for characters like Yoimiya or Kamisato Ayato if other options like Zhongli or Xiangling are unavailable. In this example, Thoma’s Burst protects Yoimiya from damage and interruption, while Yun Jin’s Burst increases the damage of Yoimiya’s Normal Attacks, and Xingqiu provides additional Hydro damage as well as a few Vaporize reactions. You could also replace Yun Jin with Yelan if available to deal lots of Hydro damage with Yoimiya’s normals and make the Energy Recharge of both Hydro characters much easier.

For a Kamisato Ayato team, you can replace Xingqiu with Xiangling for him to trigger Vaporize.

Thoma’s Elemental Burst can only be triggered by Normal Attacks, meaning characters like Hu Tao or Yanfei will not trigger it as much as Yoimiya.
