The Witcher’s Geralt Change From Cavill To Hemsworth Will Be “Flawless,” Says Producer

While the transition from Henry Cavill to Liam Hemsworth as Geralt in Netflix’s The Witcher series might sound jarring, the show’s executive producer believes it will be “quite flawless.”

Speaking with Yahoo UK, executive producer Tomek Baginski opened up about the monumental change for The Witcher. He mentioned they have “a very, very good plan to introduce our new Geralt.” In October, Cavill revealed he was leaving The Witcher after the upcoming third season, replaced by The Hunger Games star Hemsworth.

Baginski added that the switch will be “very lore accurate” to the novels. “Not going deeply into those ideas because this will be a huge spoiler, [but] it’s also very, very close to the meta ideas which are deeply embedded in the books, especially in book five,” Baginski said.

The Witcher Season 3 trailer goes all-out for Cavill’s final outing as the White Wolf. And interestingly, even though Baginski namechecks book five, the upcoming season for the show looks to adapt author Andrzej Sapkowski’s second entry in his Witcher saga called Time of Contempt.

Earlier this year, it was reported The Witcher could have ended with Cavill’s departure. But showrunner Lauren Schmidt Hissrich said there were “just too many stories left to tell.”

The Witcher returns with Season 3, Part 1 on June 29. The second part of the season will then drop on Netflix on July 27. Along with Cavill, the show also stars Anya Chalotra as Yennefer and Freya Allan as Ciri.
