The Witcher 3 reaches over 50 million sales, franchise totals over 75 million

CD Projekt Red have revealed that The Witcher 3 has reached one of the biggest milestones any video game can have the honor of holding – it has topped 50 million copies sold.

This news means that The Witcher 3 has found itself in the top ten best selling video games of all time. Estimates at this time would put it above massive hits such as Red Dead Redemption 2 and the original Super Mario Bros.

Along with this news, CD Projekt Red also announced the franchise as a whole has reached 75 million total sales, mostly helped by The Witcher 3 itself. Both announced values are up 10 million from last year, where the game had sold 40 million and the franchise was at 65 million.

10 million sales during a time period that’s years after the original launch of the game is impressive. However, some of it was likely aided by the fact that there was a next-gen update and ports released late last year.

Either way, this is great news for the company as they have more plans for the franchise, like multiple games that include a remake of the original and brand new unnamed title that’ll continue the story.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is available for Windows PC (via GOGOrigin, and Steam), Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. It also has next-gen ports for Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5.
