The truth behind the Moon Landing revealed at last in PROJECT MONARCH

Everyone knows the Moon Landing was faked, right? Maybe not the event itself but the footage people saw of it on TV? And everyone knows that The Shining is Stanley Kubrick‘s confession of that fact, right? No? Just some lunatics in that Room 237 documentary? No matter what you believe, Michael Avon Oeming and Victor Santos have a new satirical graphic novel coming out later this year that blows the lid off the whole conspiracy and the director behind it. Project Monarch is written by Oeming and illustrated by Oeming and Santos.

Here’s how Dark Horse describes Project Monarch:

Legendary film director Stanley Bowman has been indoctrinated into a Faustian deal that has ruined his life. He faked the moon landing, manipulated viral celebrity meltdowns, and filmed dozens of conspiracies to serve the goals of the Illuminati. But his loyalty gets called into question when he is forced to create an occult film so powerful the public will fall under complete control. Only his adopted child-star assassins can save him, his family, and expose the truth.

Project Monarch is the latest Dark Horse project for Oeming, whose previous work for the publisher includes Rapture and The Victories. It’s also the latest project from Santos for the publisher, who has released books by the artist including Elixir and Against Hope. In a statement announcing the new graphic novel, both Oeming and Santos expressed their enthusiasm at collaborating on the book:

On Project Monarch, Oeming said, “We live in a post-conspiracy society where irony is dead, and reality becomes nearly impossible to out-satire, so I think this is perfect timing for Project Monarch!”

“This story was born in a time when we needed to deal with uncertainty everyday,” said Santos. “So this is a book about embracing chaos and living nonetheless, and I can’t imagine a better partner for this crazy trip than Mike Oeming.”

Look for Project Monarch to arrive in bookstores on Tuesday, September 26th, and in comic shops on Wednesday, September 27th.
