Can The Last Of Us on HBO live up to the hype?
HBO’s The Last of Us is set to premiere mere hours after the publishing of this article, and we’ll soon know just how well the series (well, its first episode anyway) is living up to the lofty expectations of critics and fans. And lofty they are. Critical acclaim is placing the television adaptation of the Naughty Dog classic above such HBO classics as Game of Thrones and House of the Dragon. And if you’re reading specifically because of the new series but aren’t familiar with the games, Naughty Dog is offering a free trial of The Last of Us Part 1 for you to try out, assuming you’re a PlayStation Plus Premium member.
And that’s no all from the world from TV and movies, as Deadpool director Tim Miller is being called in to oversee reshoots of scenes for the upcoming Borderlands movie, and Paramount+ will be bringing us eight episodes of a live-action Dungeons & Dragons adaptation. But while the news of lights and camera action have entertained us this past week, there’s also been plenty to read about in the world of gaming.
Trouble In Paradise
Skull & Bones has had more than its fair share of delays, but the previously announced March release date was moved back again this week, but Ubisoft is promising the next date announcement will be “very soon.” In the meantime, we’ve at least got more footage to look at from the game — half an hour’s worth, in fact, filled with both gameplay and creator commentary. Hopefully Ubisoft can stay in the gaming community’s good graces, as Ubisoft+ seems ready to launch on Xbox soon.
Meanwhile, fellow MMO Lost Ark has upset its fan base, incorrectly labeling inactive users as cheaters and tanking its user rating on Steam in the process. While its creators haven’t exactly apologized, they are doing what they can to set things right with the fans. If nothing else, perhaps the upcoming crossover with The Witcher will be a sign of goodwill for the online game.
And in the hotly controversial Hogwarts Legacy, the enormously talented Simon Pegg has been introduced as the voice of Headmaster Phineas Nigellus Black, and we’ve also received some of the specs for both the PC and current-generation console versions that are set to be released next month.

Virtual reality continues to transition from the gaming technology of the future to the gaming technology of the present, and now Apple appears to be getting on board, brining in its headset to the market this coming spring.
Meanwhile, competitor Meta will be looking to the future as it discontinues support for its Quest 1 headsets later this year. If you’ve got a newer model, though, you’ve got even better options for staying fit, as you can now connect your Meta Quest Move to Android Health Connect.
