It’s been over a decade since The Office finished its run on NBC, but Rainn Wilson apparently can’t escape from his most iconic role as Dwight Schrute. While staying at the Plaza Hotel Lucchesi in Florence, Italy, Wilson discovered that someone working there is a big fan of The Office when room service sent him his silverware encased in Jello. Naturally, he had to share the very good joke on Instagram.
The prank was a callback to a popular scene from the pilot episode of The Office where Dwight discovered that his co-worker, Jim Halpert (John Krasinski), had put his stapler in Jello… again. To add insult to injury for Dwight, his boss, Michael Scott (Steve Carell), and his new co-worker, Ryan Howard (B. J. Novak), laugh along with the joke before making a few of their own.
Via Today, the hotel not only acknowledged the prank, it left a cheeky message as well.
“Hope you enjoyed your stay with us… and the room service as well!!”
Wilson and a few of his Office veterans recently reunited for a fake pillow ad that was part of a promotional campaign for AT&T’s Business Next Level Network. Meanwhile, Greg Daniels’ potential follow-up Office series recently cast Domhnall Gleeson and Sabrina Impacciatore. However, that show doesn’t currently have a greenlight or a network/streaming service attached to it.
