The MOP Up: Dungeon & Fighter Mobile’s Chinese launch crashes from high demand

Dungeon & Fighter is one of those odd franchises that nobody seems to notice in the west but is incredibly, obscenely, immensely popular in the east. How popular? So much so that Tencent’s recent launch of Dungeon & Fighter Mobile in China basically cratered the servers due to the high demand.

“Tencent Holdings Ltd. suspended Dungeon & Fighter Mobile within an hour of its Chinese debut because of unspecified server glitches, suggesting players flooded the online platform for one of 2024’s most highly anticipated titles,” Bloomberg reported.

And this is just the beginning of the rest of the news! Read on for a roundup of other smaller MMO news stories and videos from this past week in this edition of The MOP Up (and if you don’t see a news story that we should have covered, drop us a tip)!

Zenith released a midseason update with a new premium cosmetic, several bug fixes, and a community event.

Solarpunk showed off its UI rework along with explanations about the changes.

Hearthstone is reworking weekly quests yet again: “Over the last few weeks, we’ve been listening to your experiences and looking at our data, and it’s clear that the new Weekly Quests didn’t do their job of rewarding you for your time playing the game. Going forward, we want to strike a much better balance between your time spent in Hearthstone and the rewards given by Weekly Quests.”

DayZ announced that it’s merging its base game with the Livonia DLC in Redux Update 1.25. This “aims to redefine and further enrich the player experience by merging the content of the two products into a single and unified project. All current owners of the DayZ base game will receive the Livonia DLC for free.”

Golf MMO Shot Online released its first major patch this year with the “addition of the new Club Parts Feature that will help lower the player’s difficulty by strengthening the essential effects.”

Mad World recently raised its level cap to 95, its skill source stone cap to 30, buffed up critical hit damage, and increased the success rate for source memories.

Closers Online added the Misery of Nightmare dungeon with a level 89 requirement.

Terraria has an announcement: “Happy Birthday! We’re celebrating our 13th by releasing 1.1 (the first final update) as a beta branch on Steam. Play our most in undeluxe version yet!”

Sky: Children of Light is holding a three-week Days of Nature event where players “can rally for a good cause while clearing away darkness that threatens the river of Prairie Peaks. A portion of “Days of Nature” in-app purchase items sold will support a charitable contribution to the American Friends of The Ocean Cleanup, which works to clean up plastic and other waste from polluted waterways all around the world.”

MU Online opened its speed server to prepare for another NEW server, Ydalir. So get your toons up to the level cap of, er, 850. That is not a typo.
