The Misfit of Demon King Academy is finally returning with the first episode of its long-awaited season 2 on Saturday, January 7th, 2023 at 8:30 AM PST. For fans based in Japan, the new season will air on Tokyo MX, GYT, GTV, BS11, AT-X, TVA, and YTV, while Crunchyroll will air it for international fans. After two and a half years, The Misfit of Demon King Academy is finally returning with a second season. The announcement regarding the show’s return was made in March 2021, where it was confirmed that the second season would run in a two split-cour. The exact number of episodes has yet to be revealed, but a single cour usually runs between 12 and 13 episodes, so we could expect the second season to run for 24 to 25 episodes.
During the 2022 Aniplex Online Fest, some major announcements were made, including shows like The Misfit of Demon King Academy, Bleach TWBW, NieR: Automata, and more. A trailer was also released to commemorate the announcement, including a key visual.
Most of the cast and crew members will reprise their roles for the second season, except for Yuichiro Umehara, who will be replacing Tatsuhisa Suzuki as the voice of Anos Voldigoad. Yuichiro is also known for voicing several renowned anime characters, including Jugram Haschwalt in Bleach TYBW. Other cast members include Yūko Natsuyoshi as Sasha Necron, Tomori Kusunoki as Misha Necron, Takuma Terashima as Lay Glanzudlii, and Nene Hieda as Misa Ilioroagu. Shin Oonuma will return as the chief director of the series, with Jin Tanaka as the writer. The opening theme song for the second season is titled “Seien” by Lenny code fiction, and the ending theme song is titled “Esoa” by Momosumomosu.
The war between demons and humans had been going on for 2000 years. And after being worn out of this ongoing battle, the demon king, Anos Voldigoad, makes a deal with the human hero Kanon, in which the former will sacrifice his life and bring the war to an end. Now in the present, Anos Voldigoad reincarnates and witnesses the world where the pure-blooded demons rule over the lower breeds, and the world doesn’t seems how he wished it to be. Anos decides to reclaim his lost title and fix what’s wrong. But before that, he must graduate from the Demon King Academy.
