The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom Surpasses 19.5 Million Units Sold

Nintendo’s recent financial report has shared that the sequel The Legend of Zelda Tears of Kingdom has now surpassed 19.5 million units sold. The open-world game released earlier this year in May, as the second part of the Switch series. The game was well received, striking an almost 20 million milestone.

Other titles including Mario Kart 8 Deluxe has reached 3.22 million, Pikmin 4 with 2.61 million units and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate 1.35 million units in the fiscal year of 2024. There were 16 titles that have reached million unit sold, 12 being Nintendo first party titles.

Other stats include sales for hardware with the Switch (which includes the original, OLED and Lite model) now reaching over 6.84 million units in Q1-Q2 of FY24. But by far the best time for Nintendo has been in FY23/Q3 which rakes in 8.22 million units sold with software selling 76.7 million.

Zelda was last reported to have sold 10 million units in just 3 days of its launch. The first title Breath of the Wild has sold 30 million in its lifetime. It seems Tears of Kingdom is slowly catching up. Of course, BOTW was a launch title for the Switch which needs to be taken into account. Hopefully this means Nintendo will be announcing their next console soon, as it would be great o have an upgrade to run more powerful games.

In case you missed it, Zelda Tears of the Kingdom brings all new abilities for Link to explore the kingdom of Hyrule. With the Ultrahand to DIY to your imagination’s limits with a number of useful and absurd creations to build. You can also use Fuse to create different weapon combinations.
