HBO’s The Last of Us is getting a lot of praise from critics for the performances, writing, music, and, of course, direction. If the early impressions from critics are to be believed, The Last of Us could be one of the best live-action video game adaptations (We don’t get to say this very often).

The Last of Us Best Ellie

Episode 1 of The Last of Us is scheduled to release worldwide on Sunday, January 15th, 2023 at 6 PM PT (Pacific Time). The TV show will be available for streaming exclusively on HBO Max, but the episode’s release timing will vary depending on your region. Regardless, if you can’t wait to experience Pedro Pascal’s performance as Joel, follow this regional release schedule for Episode 1:

  • Pacific Timing: 6 PM PT (Sunday, January 15th)
  • Central Timing: 8 PM CT (Sunday, January 15th)
  • Eastern Timing: 9 PM ET (Sunday, January 15th)
  • British Timing: 2 AM GMT (Monday, January 16th)
  • Indian Timing: 7:30 AM IST (Monday, January 16th)
  • Australian Timing: 12 PM AEST (Monday, January 16th)

Unfortunately, HBO Max isn’t available in many regions outside of the US, so international fans will have to watch the show on other platforms. Fans in the UK, for instance, can stream the episodes on Sky Atlantic and NOW streaming services. Indian fans, however, will get The Last of Us TV show on Disney+ Hotstar.

HBO’s The Last Of Us Episode Count

Joel in The Last Of Us TV show

The showrunners confirmed that Season 1 of The Last of Us would run for a total of nine episodes. HBO will follow a weekly release schedule for the series, and the season will come to an end with the release of the final episode on March 12th, 2023.

Interestingly, the first episode, titled “When you’re lost in the darkness,” will feature a runtime of 85 minutes. Fans who’ve played the game know that the first episode will show Joel’s origin, and we may even get to see Joel meeting Ellie in Episode 1 itself. So, it makes sense for the episode to flex a longer runtime than the rest of the episodes in the season.
