The Elder Scrolls 6 Not Coming to PS5 According to Official Documents
The Elder Scroll 6 unsurprisingly gets confirmed by Bethesda US court documents that it won’t be coming to Playstation 5. It also won’t be released before 2026.
Bethesda may have just dropped their latest RPG Starfield but news of the next major game is the Elder Scrolls 6 which won’t be released until 2026. According to a recent document submitted in court between the FTC and Microsoft, Bethesda won’t be bringing the next instalment of the Action-RPG to Playstation 5.
While this might not be surprising news since Bethesda Softworks was acquired by Microsoft. The studio has just released it’s latest IP Starfield which is the first under since the acquisition and remains exclusive to the Xbox on console. It will launch on both PC and Xbox which is the same as Starfield and Redfall.
A statement was released by Xbox head Phil Spencer in an interview in 2021 with GQ where he shared that for Microsoft to offer a “full complete package” on the Xbox console that would include the Elder Scrolls VI. Chart which shows a quick rundown of their approach to IPs since the acquisition showed a big “x” next to the possibility of a PS5 launch.
Recently Starfield was announced to have hit the 6 million player mark since launching on PC, Xbox and day one as part of Xbox Game Pass. It also became Bethesda’s most major launch of all time. This was also around the time when Pete Hines the head of Xbox sat down in an interview with Bloomberg sharing that platform exclusivity would be on a “case by case” basis.
While this doesn’t seem overly surprising since the last couple of launches has been only on PC and Xbox, it seems that Elder Scroll 6 won’t be heading to Playstation.
