Cuphead: The Delicious Last Course will finally come out at the end of this month, and Studio MDHR still has more enticing gameplay footage to show. During today’s Summer Game Fest, the ambitious developer chose to reveal a brief gameplay trailer that shows off one of the new bosses that Cuphead and friends will face off against in The Delicious Last Course. The boss in question goes by the name Mortimer Freeze, and observant players likely recognize him from the expansion’s previous trailers. Although this new trailer does not go through the entire boss fight, it definitely serves as the longest uninterrupted streak of gameplay we have seen of The Delicious Last Course so far.

The trailer kicks off with a brief look at the boss’s second-to-last phase, which sees him transforming into a giant refrigerator that spits out ice cubes with faces on them. Before long, Mortimer Freeze triggers his final phase, which forces the player character to scale up a series of platforms in a manner not seen in the base game’s boss roster. The boss then turns into a giant snowflake that assaults the player with all sorts of tricks, including electricity-spewing eyeballs and buckets filled with moons.

Ms. Chalice also makes an appearance

In addition to the boss fight, the trailer provides an extended look at Ms. Chalice in action. She uses the double jump shown in the previous trailers, and aside from the standard Chaser shot, she uses a brand-new electric weapon that spreads three ways.

Although the new trailer does not necessarily reveal too much that we did not already know about Cuphead: The Delicious Last Course, it still manages to impress, largely due to the incredible quality of the animations. Hopefully, by the time the expansion comes out, it will impress us just as much, if not more, than the base game.
