Tears Of The Kingdom Collector’s Edition Revealed, Pre-Orders Start Today
Ganon has also been given a voice for the first time in the series
In the latest Nintendo Direct, a trailer for The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom was showcased, unveiling a Collector’s Edition for the game and a new Amiibo. It was also confirmed that pre-orders for the sequel to Breath of the Wild will start today.
Nintendo of Europe recently tweeted that the Collector’s Edition of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom will include the game card, a steel book, a set of four Legend of Zelda themed pins, an Iconart steel poster, and a comprehensive art book. Fans are encouraged to check with their local retailer for availability. The Collector’s Edition will be available on the launch day, May 12, 2023, for $129.99, while the base game, Tears of the Kingdom, will be the first Nintendo exclusive game to be priced at $70 upon its launch.
As for the trailer, there’s a lot to take in. A new type of flying enemy has been introduced in addition to the mechanical guardians. Link now has the ability to grind on rails and control large structures using a new glove with powers similar to the Sheikah Slate, not just specific components and mechanisms within them. He can also throw bombs with a special tool, use homing arrows, operate unique vehicles (both on land and in the air), and visit flying islands and platforms. While his trusty horse Epona is still present, there seem to be many more options for traversal, and a lot more locations to explore both on the ground and in the sky.
Story-wise, Ganon’s Blood Moon seems to play a significant role in this installment, with a greater impact than it had in Breath of the Wild. The Blood Moon originally takes place only at midnight, when the power of Calamity Ganon (the main antagonist) is at its peak. During this time, dead enemies in the game will reappear, including those in shrines, meaning there will never be a shortage of monsters as long as Ganon lives. The trailer hints that the Blood Moon will appear for longer periods of time, create new enemies, and change the mechanics within the dungeons as well, though in an unclear manner. The trailer also features Ganon’s voice acting for the first time, as he has never been voiced in the series before.
