Anyone still playing Red Dead Online will tell you that Rockstar’s support has been nearly nonexistent. While GTA Online gets massive collaborations with Dr. Dre, its old-west counterpart gathers dust. The lack of significant updates had fans in an uproar, desperate for a response from either Rockstar or Take-Two. Well, the long-awaited comment from higher-ups finally came.
On Monday, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick addressed the #SaveRedDeadOnline initiative during the company’s quarterly earnings call (thanks, IGN).
“Rockstar Games talks about the updates that are coming, and we’re working on an awful lot at Rockstar Games,” Zelnick said. “I’ve heard the frustration, it’s flattering that they want more content, and more will be said by Rockstar in due time.”
Zelnick then went on to confirm that Red Dead Online will receive long-term support. Sounds promising, right? Well, Take-Two then clarified that the comment was “solely referring to the online servers” and that Rockstar would have the final call on content updates. Not exactly an encouraging follow-up statement, that’s for sure.
Red Dead Online came out back in 2018, and while it’s not as popular as Rockstar was likely hoping for, it would be a crying shame if it slowly faded from existence. After all, decent cowboy games are in short supply.
