Ark: Survival Of The Fittest was supposed to be released for consoles later today, but has been delayed to an unconfirmed date.
The release of Ark: Survival Of The Fittest on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S has been delayed due to a “critical bug that impacts performance”, Studio Wildcard has confirmed.
The full statement, which was released on the official Twitter account of Ark: Survival Evolved, states that the studio had discovered a critical bug that impacts performance, particularly on previous-generation consoles, late last week. Studio Wildcard went on to say that it was “hoping to solve it before the end of the weekend, but unfortunately, this was not the case and has inevitably delayed the [Ark: Survival Of The Fittest] launch.”
“We still fully intend to release [Ark: Survival Of The Fittest] as soon as possible, but we want to ensure we provide the best player experience”, Studio Wildcard’s statement continues. The developer then goes on to say that once the bug has been resolved, a more precise timeline for launch will be shared.
Despite the setback, Ark: Survival Of The Fittest is still aiming to release for consoles by the end of the current week, according to Studio Wildcard. Should the aforementioned bug be fixed, fans can expect the console launch of Survival Of The Fittest to come no later than Sunday, February 5th, but we recommend staying tuned into the official Ark Twitter account for more official updates.
Ark: Survival Of The Fittest is a “prototype spin-off” of Ark: Survival Evolved, first released for PC back in 2016. A PlayStation blog post was released shortly after, confirming that the new spin-off would be coming to PlayStation 4 later that year. However, Studio Wildcard then decided to delay the console release in order to focus on bringing its mainline entry, Ark: Survival Evolved, to consoles first.
The studio then ended support for Survival Of The Fittest shortly after, with no release date for consoles in sight. Now, seven years later, Ark: Survival Of The Fittest will finally be coming to consoles within the next week, assuming that there are no further delays.
