After over two decades on A Question of Sport, Sue Barker announced she had been axed by the broadcaster as they had hopes of taking the BBC quiz show in a new direction.

With Sue’s friends and team captains, Phil Tufnell and Matt Dawson, leaving with her, viewers were unimpressed with the different format as Paddy McGuinness, Sam Quek and Ugo Monye took over.

During Sue, Phil and Matt’s time on the show, fans enjoyed watching their hilarious banter as the friends soon turned into an iconic TV trio.

Although they’ve not been reunited in front of a crowd for a few years, it looks as though that’s all set to change.

Appearing on Wednesday’s instalment of This Morning, the 67-year-old spoke about reuniting with her old co-stars.

Presenter Craig Doyle said: “I don’t think you can ever retire, you’ll always be Sue Barker and we’ll always love you.

“But you know, those shows coming to an end were a big deal for you because Tuffers, yourself and Dawson, you’re pretty tight.”

Agreeing, Sue said: “We are, we are so close. We have our own little WhatsApp group.

“We’re always in touch, we go out for lunches and dinners. We’ve got a tour at the end of the year!”

Explaining more about the upcoming tour, Sue joked she’s going to have to keep the two men in check when going around the theatres.

Looking back at her time on Question of Sport, which she confessed was “the best”, Sue told Craig and Holly Willoughby she used to watch the show as a kid.

She added: “I couldn’t believe I was presenting it and got to do it for 24 years.”

Sue, Phil and Matt will be back together to embark on a brand-new live sports quiz show called Extra Time.

A description of the tour reads: “With Sue at the helm and Matt and Phil as team captains, Extra Time with Sue, Matt & Phil is the perfect way for fans to reconnect with their icons and enjoy the thrill of seeing them live.

“Big screen audiovisuals, team banter, charades, audience interplay and fingers on buzzers.

“Playing to win, Matt, Phil and their guest teammates, skilfully hosted by the lovely Sue, will definitely provide audiences with a brilliant and entertaining evening.”

This Morning continues weekdays on ITV from 10am
