In a newly released trailer, US-based distributor of physical media Strictly Limited Games has unveiled collector’s editions of the upcoming game, Shinobi non Grata, for Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4. First announced for PC last December, Shinobi non Grata is a side-scrolling action platformer set to launch on Steam in the first quarter of 2023.

The release window for the Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4 versions has yet to be confirmed. According to the information listed on the Strictly Limited Games website, all the console collector’s editions announced today are expected to ship this coming fall. Although Strictly Limited Games has offered physical releases of PC and Steam titles in the past, it seems the collector’s editions of Shinobi non Grata will be exclusive to the Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4 versions of the game, with the Steam release remaining digital-only for now.

Two editions of the Shinobi non Grata physical release were revealed today. One, titled the Special Edition, consists of the base game, full color manual, and standard case, and is priced at 29.99 USD. This edition is limited worldwide to 1,300 PlayStation 4 copies, and 2,500 for the Nintendo Switch. As per all Strictly Limited Games releases, each unit of the Special Edition will be individually numbered.

The second and larger of the two Shinobi non Grata physical editions is titled the Special Limited Edition (note the extra word), and will cost 49.99 USD. In addition to the base game, manual, and standard case, this Special Limited Edition includes a soundtrack CD, a murasame necklace, an art booklet including concept art, an enamel pin of one of the game’s characters, a sticker sheet, a poster, all packaged together in a Special Limited Edition Box. 1,500 units of the Special Limited Edition will be available for the Nintendo Switch version, whereas the PS4 version will be limited to 700 copies.

Developed by Studio PICO, Shinobi non Grata is an 8-bit homage to all classics of the side-scroller genre both retro and modern. With a visually striking art style and a soundtrack slashing traditional Japanese melodies with chiptune, Shinobi non Grata recreates the late-night 90s arcade experience while evoking the gameplay philosophies of its contemporaries.

Preorders for all physical editions of the game will open on January 29 this year. An aluminum art card featuring an image from Shinobi non Grata limited to 99 units worldwide will also be available to preorder on the same day.
